📢 Attention Tax Clients: IRS Is Officially OPEN Today! 📢
Yes! The IRS is officially open TODAY, and yes—returns are now being accepted.
However, even though filing has started, these rules STILL apply ⬇️
Every tax season, we see the same frustration with the IRS “Where’s My Refund?” tool—glitches, confusing messages, and updates that don’t always make sense. This is normal, and it happens every year 🚨
Here’s what you need to know:
✅ If you are claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), the IRS is legally required to hold refunds until mid-February. The earliest updates typically begin around February 15–19.
✅ The PATH Act message simply means your return is being processed as required by law—nothing is wrong, so no need to panic.
✅ Where’s My Refund only updates once per day (usually overnight). Checking it multiple times a day will not speed anything up.
âś… If you see a weird message, delay, or no update at all, stay patient. IRS system glitches happen every single year.
đź’° Even though the IRS is open, refund timing rules have NOT changed.
