Each year, millions of dollars in unclaimed funds are turned over to the State—often from old bank accounts, insurance policies, uncashed checks, or utility deposits. You may be entitled to some of these funds. Many individuals and organizations are unaware they have funds waiting to be claimed.

How to Check for Unclaimed Funds in New York:

1. Visit the official website: https://www.osc.ny.gov/unclaimed-funds
2. Select “Search Now”
3. Search your name or business name
4. Submit a claim

If you find a match, follow the site’s instructions to submit your claim electronically or by mail. You’ll need to provide basic information to verify your identity.

This is a free service offered by the State of New York—beware of third parties who may charge you a fee.

If you do not reside in New York, you can search for the unclaimed funds website in your state.
