🚨 Quick reminder as we head into refund season 🚨

This is the same process every year. Nothing new, nothing different.

If your return includes:
• Earned Income Credit (EITC)
• Child Tax Credit (CTC)
• American Opportunity Credit (AOTC)

➡️ Refunds cannot be released before February 17 due to the PATH Act, a federal law.
The IRS intentionally holds these refunds every year.

About “Where’s My Refund”

• One bar means your return was received and is processing normally.
• “Your return is being processed” means the IRS has it but hasn’t fully acknowledged it yet.
• “Still being processed” after some time may mean identity verification is required. This does not automatically mean there is a problem with your return. It’s a fraud-prevention step.

About transcripts

• Please don’t panic if transcripts are blank.
• Blank transcripts simply mean your return is still processing.
• Codes will not appear until the IRS finishes acknowledging your return.
• The only transcript code that confirms a refund is 846. That’s your deposit date.

One important reminder

Please don’t compare refunds with friends, family, coworkers, or social media posts.
Every tax situation is different, and every return moves through the IRS system at its own pace.

Final note

• Your tax preparer’s role is to prepare and submit your return accurately and legally.
• Once accepted, processing is handled entirely by the IRS.
• Updates will come. Deposits will come.
