This July 4th, let’s talk about a different kind of freedom…
Financial freedom.
When my son was knee-high to a fly, I made a little bank for him out of an empty apple juice jar.
We called it “The College Fund.”
Every time he found loose change around the house, he’d drop it in the jar.
It wasn’t just about saving—it was about planting seeds of independence.
He didn’t realize it at the time, but he was being conditioned to become a saver.
That simple jar became more than just a place for coins.
It became the starting point for conversations about dreams, discipline, and the future.
Now that he’s an adult, we still talk about money.
And I take every opportunity to keep those conversations going—
Not like an overbearing mom, but in a way that says:
“I love you. I believe in your future. And I want you to have the freedom to make informed financial choices.”
Because here’s what I’ve learned along the way:
👉🏽 Financial freedom isn’t just about dollars and cents.
👉🏽 It’s about options.
👉🏽 It’s about peace of mind.
👉🏽 It’s about having the power to say yes to what matters—and no to what doesn’t.
When we understand money, we navigate life differently.
We don’t have to stay in roles, relationships, or systems that don’t serve or respect us.
We get to walk away.
And more importantly—we get to walk toward something better.
That’s the power of financial freedom.
And it all starts with a conversation—early and often.
So this 4th of July, let’s celebrate more than fireworks.
Let’s celebrate the kind of freedom that changes everything for the next generation:
💬 An open, ongoing conversation about money.
