Thank you to DFA for the invitation to attend the annual conference in Kansas City! We’re grateful for the opportunity to spend time with dairy producers from all parts of the country and have meaningful conversations about the growing need for thoughtful transition planning.

Whether the conversations were with producers from New York, Texas, California, or anywhere in between, the message was remarkably consistent. Producers are looking for more than a simple transfer of equity from one generation to the next. They want a partner who can help them think through all aspects of a successful transition plan, including mergers and acquisitions, identifying vulnerabilities, strengthening team alignment, and building a path forward for the business as a whole.

We also heard strong interest in our family office approach and in the idea of viewing this work as Business Evolution Planning, not just transition planning. That broader perspective resonated with businesses looking for a more comprehensive and forward-thinking approach.

These conversations continue to reinforce our focus at Ascent Advisors. We remain committed to strengthening the service experience, investing in our people, and building a model that aligns with evolving needs for years to come. We are already putting that commitment into action through continued investment in our team, including the addition of a new leader beginning Monday, with a dedicated focus on providing an exceptional client experience and ensuring each engagement progresses with clarity and consistency. This investment will better position us to support our valued team members and continue delivering an exceptional experience to clients.

We appreciated the chance to listen, learn, and share in these important conversations.

Location: Henry, TN

About Tosh Farms
Tosh Farms is a family-owned and operated, multi-entity, vertically integrated agricultural enterprise operating at significant scale across crop production, swine production, and logistics.
• 18,000+ acres under management
• 38,000+ sows producing 1M+ hogs annually
• 95+ finishing hog sites + 9 sow farms
• 8,300 tons of feed produced weekly
• Integrated transportation fleet (100+ semis, 250 trailers)
The business operates through three synergistic entities:
• Tosh Farms (Crop Production)
• Tosh Pork (Swine Production)
• Bacon by Gosh (Transportation & Logistics)
This is a highly operational, asset-intensive, data-driven environment with a strong foundation.

Position Overview
Tosh Farms' finance function is powered by a best-in-class technology stack, anchored by Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and enhanced with Jet Reports for automated, real-time financial and operational reporting. • Preference for data-driven decision-making.
• History of identifying cutting-edge uses of technology to improve long-term profitability.

Key Responsibilities
• Maintain in-depth collaborative relations with all members of the management team.
• Manage accounting, human resources, and legal areas of the business (along with a tight connection to the IT department).

• Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
• Forecast accrual income for the year during Q1 and update the forecast monthly in order to minimize taxable income. This forecast is the basis for a critical revenue deferral date.
• Negotiate annual insurance coverages – to include: 1) high-deductible Property & Casualty and Workers comp, and 2) partially self-funded health insurance.
• Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
• Coordinate the annual financial audit with the company controller.
• Prepare and maintain meaningful and timely financial and management reports (including KPIs for all levels within the company.
• Develop recommendations (strategic and tactical) based on accepted financial protocol, financial ratios, and strategic business goals.
• Provide analysis and recommendations to deal with marketing price risk, input cost risk, production risk, legal risk, and interest rate risk.
• Provide pro forma analysis of potential new business initiatives/opportunities.
• Negotiate credit line renewals with lending partners. Present annual financial results to lending group during onsite visit.
• Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all systems and functions. This includes the preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
• Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
• Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting.
• Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns, required reports, and notices.
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
• Design and maintain internal financial controls to prevent theft and fraud.
• Oversee preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements.
