🚨 IRS CODE 971 ON YOUR TRANSCRIPT?

If you see Code 971 – Notice Issued on your IRS transcript, it means the IRS has mailed you a letter. Make sure the address on your tax return is correct, the notice will be sent there.

Code 971 COULD possibly mean theres identity verification request.

Here’s how to verify:
1. Log into your IRS ID.me account
2. Look for a notification that says “Verify Your Identity”
3. Follow the instructions on the letter you received in the mail.

‼️ You will NOT receive your refund until verification is completed. Do it as soon as possible to avoid delays.

If your IRS account says “2025 tax return not filed”, it could mean:

•Your return is under review
•Identity verification is pending
•The return has not finished processing yet

If you’re having trouble reading and understanding your transcript, here is a guideline to assist you! The code that you’re wanting to look for, for a refund to be issued is 846!

✅ Your transcript is not updated until you see 846 REFUND ISSUED. Any date you see other than the one next to 846 REFUND ISSUED does not matter.

✅ If your transcript says "Verification Of No Tax Return Filed" but your Where's My Refund said "Received" then you're FINE. The IRS just hasn't processed your return YET.

✅ Major Transcript Updates will happen Friday and Where's My Refund will update on Saturday morning!

✅ First BIG funding days will be 2/24 and 2/26 but you "MAY" see a deposit earlier depending on your bank.

✅ If you file this upcoming week you COULD still be in the first batch!
