In a world where daily life is a struggle for many of us, I think it's a *wonderful* idea to devalue the education and professions of so many of us. Oh yes. I know. It's all about how funding is allocated for education. 🙄 Which would make perfect sense, if multiple fields with shortages wouldn't be given LESS educational funding through this process. I don't know whose brilliant idea this was, but clearly they need to be replaced with a real professional. 😡

We are now entering the final week of tax season.

While the tax deadline is officially Monday, April 18, 2022, my office will be finalizing all returns by Friday, April 15, 2022, and filing extensions for any returns remaining, upon discussion with the client. Please contact me immediately if you have any questions.

❗️My office will be closed for the Easter Weekend and the following week.❗️

I want to thank all of my clients for your patience with my office situation last year. Having an office and having a functional office are two entirely different things, so thank you for hanging around my dining table last year.

This year, however, is a new year, and my office is open for business. My husband is amazing! He's been hard at work making my office ready, from the outside signage to make the entry clear, to the desk and wall hutch he custom built for me over the holidays. He has done an amazing job with all of it.

We're a month into the individual tax filing season. Are you, like me, wondering when your refund will arrive? There are no good answers. At a time when many of us very much need these refunds, the IRS is struggling with understaffing, a continued covid backlog, even more tax law changes, and a new stimulus payment. If your refund is delayed, it could be delayed a while.

Nearly 7 million tax filers are in limbo and facing substantial delays in getting refunds, as the Internal Revenue Service struggles to keep up with the demands of issuing stimulus checks and implementing a myriad of tax code changes from the coronavirus relief packages.

The IRS has announced the individual tax filing season will begin on February 12, 2021. Begin watching for tax information statements to arrive, and be prepared to let your preparer know how much you received in stimulus funds last year and this year.

If you receive all of your information early, please do not hesitate to go ahead and have your return prepared. Your return will be transmitted then as soon as the IRS begins receiving them.

2020 has finally ended, and now we begin 2021 . . . a new year, and a new tax season. January is the month of 1099s and W-2s and other "information" forms. Is your business prepared to issue all of these on time? Are you sure you're in compliance with all filing and payment deadlines?
