Friends - I cannot urge you enough to check your withholdings for federal taxes and make sure your employer is deducting the correct amount from your paycheck. I have had 3 clients in the last 24 hours with unfavorable tax returns as a result. Unfortunately the IRS doesn’t care who’s fault it is that the incorrect amount was deducted. Friends in the accounting industry… it’s that time of year again where phishing emails are running rampant. Especially when it comes to stealing financial information. Have you received an email from one of your suppliers asking you to update their banking information? Before you do call your vendor and ask to speak with someone in accounting and verify the change. These emails often come disguised on company letter head with official names and correct titles. Do your due diligence and take the extra 5 minutes to verify. Not doing so may be very costly to you and the company you work for.
