As some of your may know, Bank of America manages the EDD accounts for unemployed Californians. Lately, there are valid criticisms of the bank's treatment of these accounts. I highly recommend that, regardless of this controversy, if you have a separate bank account, that you should transfer these funds out of the BofA account and into your own personal bank account.

"For the debit cards to lead to draining of funds is not acceptable." California Assemblymember David Chiu is one of the bipartisan group of lawmakers demanding the CEO of Bank of America explain the bank's mishandling of EDD accounts.

Introducing: The Billfold Budget Blog!

And I'm starting it off talking about an issue near and dear to my heart; financial challenges for transgender folks. In this post, I focus specifically on student loan and financial aid and how the process can become an enormous ordeal.

One issue close to my heart is how horribly God-awful expensive, emotionally, and financially, it is to be transgender in America.
