Thank you Fred Stein for posting this.

Please trust your tax people to do right by you.

Keep in mind, they have 100s, if not 1,000s of clients. Please, don't call to just "check up" or to "see if we need anything". I promise you, once we get to yours, we will definitely reach out and request any missing information.

If your tax person works by themselves, every phone call, every email they need to respond to costs them time. If 100 people call in or email, that's 100 three to five minute plus conversations of time lost. It adds up.

Just because you have a "simple" return doesn't mean you get done first. There might be 40 clients who got their stuff in before you. Think of it as waiting in line at the supermarket. 40 people in front of you with baskets full and all you have is one box of cereal. You still need to wait until the 40 in front finish. This is how tax people run their firms. Yes, sometimes someone let's you jump in front, but this rare.

The best thing you can do is to get your stuff to your tax preparer as early as possible and to have everything ready.

Earlier in the season, things move much more quickly. The backlog increases as the days drag on.

Be kind.
Be patient.

Even though there has been an extension of filing and payment until 7/15/20, we are still treating 4/15/20 as our deadline to get everything filed. You can hold off on paying until 7/15/20 still, but why drag out filing? We don't want tax season pressure in the summer time...do you? Besides, with everyone on lock down, you should have plenty of time to get everything together in time, no? What else you have to do...stop a baby boom, get your taxes together.

As of now there is no update regarding extending any due dates for tax filings due to the Corona Virus, but we are monitoring the situation and will pass info along if any announcements come.

It is upon us!

I have to say, with almost each and every tax return I do, my middle class clients are happy with the new tax laws and actually calling out the lies of MSM regarding it. All without me having to say a word, but to just show them in black and white how much they've saved in taxes under the new laws.

Even if tax refunds are lower, you can't look at bottom line, you need to look at your total tax. For my clients, i would say at least 95% have paid less tax, even though their refunds may be smaller. All that means is they saw that money in their paycheck throughout the year instead.
Do not be mislead, this tax law has saved my clients money for the most part.

Tax refunds are up from where they were this time last year by 1.3 percent following the fourth week of the 2019 filing season, according to new Internal Revenue Service data.

Don't look at your end result to determine whether you believe you did better from the tax law changes and DO NOT believe the media on their opinions on it.
Look at your total tax in 2017 vs 2018. This is what will tell you whether you paid more or less in tax. Don't understand? Let me explain it to you so you know the TRUTH and aren't misled.
