Beware of IRS Scams!

The IRS primarily contacts taxpayers via letter. An email, text, or phone call claiming to
be from the IRS is likely a scam. Never provide personal information without verifying a
request is legitimate.

A recent scam attempt includes fraudsters sending letters that closely resemble a real
IRS issued notice. Be on the lookout for the following IRS Notice red flags:
- QR Code linking to unknown website
- Lack of taxpayer personal identifying information (like social security number)
- Inconsistencies with filed tax return (asking for bank account to direct deposit a
refund when taxes were owed)
- Lack of IRS logo, address, or notice number

If you receive a notice, upload it to your client portal or email it to us so we can review
its legitimacy and accuracy. Keep in mind, the IRS will never ask you to verify bank
account information over the phone- you can only provide that information online via
your IRS account.

Deductions may include but are not limited to:
- Property taxes paid
- Mortgage interest paid
- Qualified charitable donations
- Certain gambling losses
- Medical & dental expenses (must exceed 7.5% of adjusted gross income)
