02/21/2026
Most clients have a date for February 23 or 25th. You probably will receive your money before the end so here are some updates.
🟢 1. Where’s My Refund 💻
That tool belongs to the IRS 🏛️ not your tax preparer. We cannot refresh it, update it, push it through, or “see something different.” If it hasn’t moved, that’s the IRS system ⏳ not us.
🟢 2. Refund Offsets💰
If you owe child support, student loans, state taxes, or other government debt, your refund can be reduced. You will receive a letter in the mail explaining exactly where it went 📬. That is handled through the Treasury Offset Program, not your tax office. Wait for the letter before you panic.
🟢 3. Tax Advances Are NOT Free
If you took an advance, it gets paid back automatically from your refund. Bank fees 💵 and tax prep fees 💼 also come out once funds are released. Nothing is missing. Nothing is stolen. It was deducted as agreed.
🟢 4. Government Debt Comes First 💚⚖️
If your refund is taken for debt and there is not enough left to cover prep fees, you still owe your preparer. The service was already completed. We don’t work for free. Period.
🟢 5. Same Day Filing Does NOT Mean Same Day Funding ⏰
Just because you and your friend filed the same day does not mean the money will hit the same day. The IRS processes returns individually 🧾. Every file is different.
🟢 6. Bank Fee Processing 🏦
If you chose to have fees taken from your refund, the bank takes their fees from whichever refund hits first, state or federal. If state hits first, fees come out of that first. That’s processing. Not theft 🚫.
🟢 7. Identity Verification & Reviews 🔐
Some people will receive identity verification letters or review notices 📩. This has been normal IRS procedure for years.
Let’s move informed this season 💚
