DeeP insights: Black folks spend $1.6 Trillion dollars annually and we don't recycle this money in our own communities. Which means we should be thanked for making the economy go round!

Do you go out of your way to support black businesses? Why or why not?

08/01/2024

Supporting Black-owned businesses is more than a fad; it’s a necessary step toward economic fairness and community empowerment. By choosing to support Black-owned, operated, and/or patronized businesses, customers play a role in recycling the black dollar, bridging economic gaps and help sustain wealth in the black community.

Black-owned means at least 51% of a business is owned by one or more Black individuals who make the decisions and have financial ownership of the business.

Black-operated means the day-to-day decisions, management and operations are handled by Black people, even if they don't own the business.

Black-patronized means a significant portion of the business’s customer base is frequented or supported by Black clientele.

Supporting Black businesses is a simple but powerful way to make a difference.... making a commitment to support Black businesses works towards a more inclusive and thriving marketplace. Oh and there's no reason why other ethnicities shouldn't jump on the bandwagon of supporting Black businesses. Historically, we haven’t had the same opportunities as others though we spend $1.6 trillion annually. Being more conscientious of the power of the Black dollar means every purchase, recommendation, and effort counts!

What does "circulate the black dollar" mean to you?

Google defines the diaspora as the spread of a people from their original homeland. 14.9% or 47 million of us are in the United States.

While we may not all agree on what got us into the financial mess we are in, one must not deny the statistical data that puts us at the tail end of all good financial markers. We earn less. We save less. We have more debt. We consume rather than produce. We trail white and Asian counterparts in net worth, homeownership and entrepreneurship. And despite the 1.6 trillion dollars in spending power we have in the US, we have little to show for it. We did not get here overnight. There are many reasons why we are in the condition we are in now, but DeeP is focused on the solutions and not so much on the problems. Considering 97% of us believe in a higher power, it's illogical for us to be at such dismal numbers in positive money matters. There are universal laws to money management that can be found in the bible, the Quran and an assortment of modern day books.

We want to reverse engineer our issues. We are aware of the multiple factors leading to our current position, but are more focused on practical solutions to our plight. We do our own research through focus groups, seminars and surveys. By controlling the stats, we are in a better position to control our own narrative.

We support black businesses.
We educate our children.
We give back to our community.

Diaspora economic empowerment Project is positioning itself to address an assortment of our fiscal issues. We are 7.8 billion strong globally. so DeeP has a lot of work to do!
