My story
I often get asked if I get excited during tax season. Like most tax answers it depends on the fact pattern, but can be answered as both yes and no. I find joy in helping people with any accounting problems, and I happen to have 10 years of experience and a Master’s Degree in Accounting with an emphasis in tax law. The “no” is because it is winter and I prefer the summer to go fishing my dad, attending professional baseball games with my wife, and playing sports with my kids.
On a personal level, I tend to shy away in large group settings. But I love one-on-one conversations because I get to know people individually. Maybe that is why I wanted to be a tax accountant. I love getting to know people better and helping them with whatever accounting problems they (or their businesses) are currently having. And I think that my clients enjoy it as well because 99% of them are extremely happy with the value that I provide. Don’t believe me? Just ask one of them.
I run my CPA firm without an office because my clients prefer that I come to them or that we discuss their accounting problems at a favorite restaurant (I always try to buy). I also keep everything digital by using ShareFile to store tax documents, Google Hangouts for screen sharing, and RightSignature for e-signatures. I serve clients mostly in Utah, Salt Lake, and Davis counties which allows me to see them as often as is needed while also maintaining efficiencies digitally.
