Time Sensitive Real Estate Tax Credit Rebates ⏱⚠️- Please Share with Illinois Retirees 📤👩🦳👨🦳
The State of Illinois is sending out rebate checks of up to $300, but you have to apply by Oct 17th.
To qualify, you must be an Illinois resident that paid Illinois property taxes in 2021 on your primary residence.
There are two ways to apply:
If you filed your 2021 income taxes and reported your Illinois real estate taxes on your income taxes, you will automatically receive the rebate. If you don't know if you reported your real estate taxes on your 2021 taxes, talk to your tax preparer or give us a call at 217-735-1576.
If you didn't report your real estate taxes on your 2021 taxes or if you are a retiree and did not have taxable income in Illinois because your income is retirement income, you must file a property tax rebate form by Oct 17th to get your rebate.
To file the property tax rebate form electronically, go to https://mytax.illinois.gov/?link=IL1040PTR
To file the property tax rebate form by paper, go tohttps://www2.illinois.gov/rev/forms/incometax/Documents/currentyear/individual/IL-1040-PTR.pdf and mail in the form.
If you feel hesitant to file for the rebate on your own, contact your tax preparer or give us a call at 217-735-1576.
