Trent is leading the Liberal Redskinsā€™ offensive line with 19 pancake blocks and a 91-percent grade. He is also making an impact on defense, recording six tackles and one sack for the Angry Red.

A Second Team All-WAC offensive lineman as a junior, Trent also participates in powerlifting, track and FCA.

Trent and the Redskins host the Garden City Buffaloes Friday at 7 p.m. at the Gary Cornelsen Sports Complex.

āš½šŸˆ Congratulations to Liberal senior Ariel Gaytan, this weekā€™s Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week!

Ariel has been making an impact for two Redskin teams this fall. He leads the 2-2 soccer Redskins with three goals and one assist. On Friday, he helped the football Redskins defeat Wichita Heights 19-8 by connecting on field goals from 30 and 40 yards!

Ariel showed what it means to be the ultimate team player last week, traveling back and forth to Wichita for soccer on Thursday, football on Friday and soccer again on Saturday.

After scoring 15 goals and earning First Team All-WAC honors last season, Ariel was named one of KSHSAA Coveredā€™s Top 25 players in Class 6A. He now has 23 career goals!

šŸ† Congratulations to Landry Fitzgerald, this weekā€™s Hay, Rice & Associates Athlete of the Week!

The Liberal junior linebacker and fullback recorded nine tacklesā€”including two tackles for lossā€”in the Redskinsā€™ 7ā€“0 season-opening win over Wichita Southeast. Landry also added several bruising carries during Liberalā€™s decisive 96-yard scoring drive before thunderstorms ended the game at halftime.

A multi-sport athlete, Landry recorded 87 tackles last season, qualified for the 6A State Wrestling Tournament, and won two matches at state. He also participates in track, baseball, NHS, and FFA.

Liberal sophomore swimmer Jyzelle Juarez is this weekā€™s Hay Rice & Associates, Athlete of the Week. Juarez set school records at last weekā€™s meet in Newton in the 50 free (29.17) and the 200 free (2:40.71). She also owns the school record in the 100 free at 1:09 from last year. She is also a key member of the medley relay, the 400 relay, and the 200 relay. Jyzelle is also involved in Liberal High Schoolā€™s choir and painting club. Juarez and the Lady Red swim team competes at the WAC swim meet at Garden City on Thursday.

Liberal sophomore Lilly Guy is Hay Rice & Associates, Athlete of the Week. Guy has has 17 goals and three assists this season. Guy has 48 goals in her career which is second to only Ashley Carrilloā€™s 49 career goals. She scored three goals last week in a 9-0 win over Alva. Guy is a Top 25 KSHSAA Player to Watch in 6A. She is also involved in cheer and Redskin Singers.

Liberal sophomore softball player Haiden Lyon is this weekā€™s Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week. Lyon pitched a no hitter Thursday as Liberal blanked Hugoton 8-0. She pitched all seven innings and struck out 15 in the win. She has 36 strikeouts and 18 walks this season. She is also having a good season as a hitter with a batting average of .400 with 10 runs, five doubles, and two triples. Lyon is also involved in volleyball, powerlifting, and NHS.

Liberal sophomore thrower Maliyah Mullens is this weekā€™s Hay Rice & Associates, Athlete of the Week. Mullens won the shot put at 34-9.50 and the discus at 103-3 at the Liberal Invitational Friday at the Gary Cornelsen Sports Complex. Mullens helped the Liberal girls to win their second straight meet with 158 points. Mullens also plays basketball and is a member of Liberal High Schoolā€™s FFA. Mullens and the track team compete at Laverne today.

Liberal sophomore center midfielder Ashley Batista is this weekā€™s Hay Rice & Associates, Athlete of the Week. Batista scored a goal in Liberalā€™s 4-0 win Tuesday over Wichita Classical in Wichita. She dribbled most of the length of the field weaving through defenders for the goal. Batista is a center midfielder for the Lady Red. She was an all WAC player as a sophomore last year. Batista also plays tennis at LHS. Batista and the Lady Red play at Wichita South Thursday at 4pm.

Liberal senior power lifted Blayden Betts is Hay Rice & Associates, Athlete of the Week. Betts won state at 220 pounds for the Iron Red Reds in 5A at Wichita Saturday. Betts won the squat with a personal best lift of 565 pounds. He won the bench with a PR of 300 pounds. His dead lift was 500 pounds. His best clean this season was 330 pounds. Betts helped lead the Iron Reds to a 5A state championship on Saturday. Betts was on the WAC Leadership Team as a junior. He also participates in football, baseball, NHS, and FCA.

Liberal senior power lifter Klaire Anderson is this weekā€™s Hay Rice & Associates, Athlete of the Week. Anderson won state at her weight division at 5A state in Wichita Saturday. She had a squat of 270 pounds and benched 150 pounds with a deadlift of 285 pounds. Her personal best in the squat is 285 pounds and her best clean is 185 pounds. They didnā€™t do the clean at 5A state. Anderson is very involved at LHS. She is the student body president for the LHS student council. She was in the school musical Emma last weekend. Anderson is the vice president for NHS. She played volleyball in the fall and is a part of the LHS cheer team. She is involved in FCA at LHS. Anderson is now beginning her track season.
