The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) raises the federal reporting threshold for Form 1099-NEC from $600 to $2,000 for payments made on or after January 1, 2026. Starting in 2027, this $2,000 threshold will adjust annually for inflation.

Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), Qualified Small Business Stock (QSBS) issued after July 4, 2025, replaces the strict five-year holding cliff with a tiered exclusion system. It also increases the gross asset limit to $75 million and the per-issuer gain cap to $15 million. Tiered Holding Periods & Exclusions

3 to 4 years: 50% gain exclusion
4 to 5 years: 75% gain exclusion 5+ years: 100% gain exclusion
