We've been contacted by a handful of clients regarding these types of notices the IRS is sending out. Don't panic. It's not you or us. It's them. Check your records to make sure your payment went through and then just hold tight as their system catches up and they rectify it on their end. Nobody is coming to get you.

We have advisors 4 years out of school pushing $85k salary at our firm here in Utah, but struggling to recruit from local colleges cause they all think they need their CPA, when all they need is their EA. We train them and pay for them to get their EA over usually what ends up being a 3-4 month period. We also offer now offer a path to their Masters, if they're interested. We are growing the largest EA tax firm in the country.

No clue why people choose accounting or audit, and don't consider the tax route, when you can have more personal interaction and relationships. We don't recruit BYU much cause they have Big 4 shoved down their throats and then they go there and get burned out after 2-3 years and leave the industry. Looking for those graduating in the next year to two years, to get their foot in the door with us.

Let us know if you know anyone that wants a better route with a high projection at a good tax firm. 65 hour weeks during the busy season, with averaging 30-32 hr weeks over the next 8 months, and lots of flexible family time.

The state of Utah has decided to tax PPP money, that the IRS has ruled non-taxable. Struggling to see how Utah justifies this, accusing business owners of double dipping, while they double dip themselves. The USTC has always followed the IRS lead, until now when they want to say that business owners are benefitting too much. Really? During a pandemic, when many are having to shut their doors or just struggle to maintain. Shame on Utah for this one.

Utah business owners are learning they could owe tens of thousands of dollars after they accepted financial aid to keep their businesses going.

The IRS has now announced that they have suspended the mailing of certain past due notices to taxpayers.

The Secure Act extends the use of a 529 college-savings plan to cover apprenticeships. It also provides more options for using leftover funds.
