Once again Bushman Accounting is hiring. We keep growing and growing and love it. We have two full-time openings.

1- We need a licensed CPA or an Enrolled Agent to help keep things rolling.

2- We need a payroll specialist with bookkeeping experience. A lot of clients have asked us to be more involved in their payroll and it's time to add that service in-house.

If we can toot our own and likely your horn a bit, apparently having a CPA and accounting team with a little bit of personality is appealing 😀. We are not your typical nerdy accountants (though our families may disagree 🤓). The firm grows about 25%+ every year with no end in sight. We love our clients, they have sent us hundreds of clients and have given us the opportunity of a lifetime. We want to share that with others.

A big shout out and THANK YOU to our clients this year.

As we wrap up 2020, we wanted to remind any procrastinators that the personal return deadline is October 15th 😁

We have noticed a lot of new client’s have children using ‘cheap internet sites’ to file their taxes. That works, unless they forget to claim their stimulus money and education credits. If that is the case, that ‘cheap internet site’ actually cost them $1,800 in missed stimulus money and up to $3,500 in missed education credits. They will need to amend to get that money.

If you know a family with college students or children older than 17, please give them our information. These can be the refunds that make the most impact on a family and are sometimes life altering with the amount of money we can get them back. We have been fixing a ton of family and student’s returns that thought it was cheaper to use a ‘cheap website’ when actuality it was costing their family thousands of dollars. Be the hero!!

Dave’s famous words that ‘tax payments are always due April 15th no matter what’ has again been adjusted for the second year.

The IRS felt that an adjustment needed to be made, the April 15th deadline has been moved to May 17th. Payments for 2020 taxes have been extended as well; for now, the April deadline for estimated payments for your 2021 tax return payments have not been extended. If you owed more than $1,000 on your previous year return you are required to make an estimated payment in April still.

Some states did not change their tax filing deadlines last year, we anticipate the same result this year. As of now, rather than spend a bunch of time determining which states have made the adjustment, we will still be filing any extensions for any unfiled clients in April.

Dave has a trip planned the last week of April and two kid’s birthdays in May the weekend of the new deadline. Please send our office any information as if the deadline was still in April. Most of our staff have planned vacations in May that we intend to keep.

IR-2021-59, March 17, 2021 — The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service announced today that the federal income tax filing due date for individuals for the 2020 tax year will be automatically extended from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021.

Reminder: Taxes are due July 15th. If you know anyone that needs help getting an extension filed have them give us a call 801-901-7061.
