The 2022 filing season is upon us! The IRS will begin accepting 2021 returns on Monday, January 24. The deadline for filing most individual income tax returns is Monday, April 18. Taxpayers who received advance child tax credit payments in 2021 should be on the lookout for IRS Letter 6419 which summarizes the payments received for reconciliation on their 2021 return. Taxpayers who received the third stimulus payment in 2021 should receive IRS Letter 6475 reporting the amount received for reconciliation on their 2021 return. Knowing the amounts of these advances is vital to the preparation process to ensure you are receiving the proper amount of credit from these sources applicable to tax year 2021. Now more than ever, e-filing of returns is encouraged as the backlog of paper returns at the IRS has been great since the onset of the pandemic. If you are due a refund, the IRS expects that most taxpayers will receive their refund within 21 days of when they file electronically, unless there is an issue with processing the return.

Do you have an online account with the IRS? If not, check out IRS Publication 5533 which explains why you should create one! This is the best way to access your tax records when your tax preparer wants to verify things like stimulus payments received during the year. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p5533.pdf

The IRS is sending letters to families who potentially will qualify for advance child tax credit payments that are to begin July 15, 2021. The IRS plans to release a portal to allow families to unenroll from receiving the advance payments and instead receive the full amount of the credit when they file their 2021 return next year. Eventually families will also be able to use the portal to notify the IRS of changes in their income, filing status, or number of qualifying children and update their direct deposit information. Families who will see changes that may affect the amount of child tax credit they will qualify for between 2020 and 2021 will want to pay particular attention to whether updates in their portal will be necessary to avoid surprises during the 2021 filing season.

Individual & Business tax preparation (Ultra Tax experience a plus!)

Familiarity with small business accounting ~ being able to review and understand balance sheet and profit & loss statements.

A working knowledge of QuickBooks Online.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams

Beginning salary will take into consideration the candidates level of experience as it pertains to the needs of our firm, credentials (CPA) and level of education of the candidate.
