Another tax season is in the books! 🥳🥳🥳 I want to take this moment of pause to thank all of our loyal clients for hanging with us. We did more than one major software upgrade and hit more hurdles and potholes than we'd like to remember, but we made it through to the other side and we're still growing strong. I threw a lot at my staff this year and they handled it all like the savage beasts that they are, and I thank them dearly for their dedication and hard work.

We are blessed beyond measure, and we appreciate each and every one of you. - Andrea

As another tax season comes to a close, we want to say THANK YOU to each of our clients for entrusting us with your tax preparation needs. We appreciate you more than you know. To the procrastinators out there (we love you all too!), there's still plenty of time to get your return prepped before the statewide extension deadline, but we will be resuming regular office hours effective today. We also want to offer Jessie Newton our best wishes as she moves on to greener pastures. We will miss her energy here at Morrison & Associates, but we are confident she will find happiness in her next chapter.

Haven't filed your taxes yet? Don't panic! Kentucky's deadline has been extended until November 3. BUT, the state has no provision for waiving interest, so make your payments accordingly.

KY-2025-02, Feb. 24, 2025 — The Internal Revenue Service announced today tax relief for individuals and businesses in the entire state of Kentucky affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, and landslides that began on Feb. 14, 2025.

Edit *** The injunction was reinstated on Dec 27th. Meaning ALL filing obligations are currently suspended. My advice - rather than chance missing the next court decision to reinstate the filing obligation, go ahead and file the report. There is no fee for filing. It takes 5 minutes. And the info you're giving them is info they already have anyway. ***

BOI reporting is back on as of Dec 23rd, but the due date for 2024 has been extended to Jan 13th. This reporting is only required for entities that are registered with the Secretary of State (LLC, Corp, etc). Sole proprietors have no filing obligation. Some are using the term "self-employed" a little loosely. This filing has nothing to do with being self-employed. If you are registered with the Secretary of State and you've not yet filed your BOI, you'll need to do so at your earliest convenience.

A nationwide injunction has been issued thanks to a Texas judge.

On December 3, a Texas federal district court preliminarily barred enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act nationwide — the broad decision came weeks before the January 1, 2025, deadline for 32.6 million business entities to report their beneficial ownership information.

All clients who have ownership interest in a legally registered entity (LLC, S Corp, Corp) need to register your entity with the US FINCEN before 12/31/2024. Failure to file this Beneficial Ownership Information Report can result in a $500 per day, per entity penalty.
