Your profit tells you whether your business is actually earning more than it's spending.

It's Friday, so let's talk about the person behind the spreadsheets. 😂

Apparently, I have five personalities:

💙 M – Motivated. Always learning, building, and coming up with another idea for my business.

💚 A – Active. Well, we're working on that one! Pilates, step aerobics, and a little determination. 😂

💙 R – Resilient. Life has thrown a few curveballs, but I keep showing up.

💚 I – Intentional. Building a business that supports the life I want, not the other way around.

💙 E – Empathetic. Because behind every set of books is a real person with goals, challenges, and a business they care about.

Throw in two dogs, an owl named Ollie, a whole lot of coffee, and a slightly sarcastic sense of humor… and you've pretty much got me. ☕🦉🐾

We're past the halfway mark of the year, which makes this a good moment to ask: how current are your books, really?

Mid-year is a great time for a quick cleanup; reconciled accounts, categorized expenses, no mystery transactions sitting in "ask my accountant later." Not because a deadline is coming, but because clean, current books make everything easier: loan applications, planning conversations, and handing things off to your CPA down the road.

If it's been a minute since your books got a real look, now's a good time before the year gets away from you.

Here's a question worth sitting with: if you opened your books right now, would you actually understand what you're looking at?

That's the bar we hold ourselves to with every client, not just accurate numbers, but numbers you can actually read and use. No jargon, no "trust me," just books that make sense at a glance.

If your bookkeeping doesn't feel like that right now, that's worth a conversation.

Quick bookkeeping tip: revenue and profit are not the same number, and mixing them up can throw off how you think your business is doing.

Revenue is everything that came in. Profit is what's left after expenses go out. If you're only glancing at the top line of your P&L, you might feel richer (or poorer) than you actually are.

Take five minutes this week to look past the revenue line and see what's really left over. Small habit, big clarity.
