The September Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index increased a seasonally adjusted 0.5%, putting the annual inflation rate at 3.6%. The monthly increase was in line with the Dow Jones consensus, while the annual rate was 0.1% below expectations. Excluding food and energy, Core PCE posted respective readings of 0.3% and 3.1%, both in line with the consensus. While the Federal Reserve follows both measures closely, officials generally see the core reading as more indicative of longer-term inflation trends.
SOXX (iShares Semiconductor ETF) is going to do a 3:1 stock split on November 5. If you own it, you will receive two additional shares for every share you already own.
SNDK (SanDisk Corporation) is also doing an 8:1 stock split on November 19.
Today, in my regular taxable investment account, I added to my positions in:
CSX (CSX Corporation)
HACK (Amplify Cybersecurity ETF)
ILMN (Illumina, Inc.)
MRVL (Marvell Technology, Inc.)
TQQQ (ProShares UltraPro QQQ)
WCBR (WisdomTree Cybersecurity Fund)
I also started a position in OKTA (Okta, Inc.), which I already own in my Roth IRA, but at the time, I did not have any cash available in my Roth IRA.
In my Roth IRA this morning, I sold my entire positions in AMZN (Amazon.com, Inc.) and GOOGL (Alphabet Inc. Class A). I was not happy with GOOGL having its worst day ever! I also did not believe that AMZN was going to report a good quarter this evening because they are not allowing Meta's new AI agent, Muse, on their platform to make purchases for consumers, whereas Walmart is. I think that is a big mistake on Amazon's part. However, I can see myself buying AMZN again in the future. Another reason I made these two sales is that I am not impressed with the fact that over the last 12 months, AMZN and GOOGL are up only 5.86% and 3.37% respectively, while the broader S&P 500 index is up over 12%, and the plastic shoe company CROX (Crocs, Inc.) is up approximately 42%—and that was before Crocs jumped another 25.5% today.
On top of that, inside my Roth IRA, I added to my positions in:
OKTA (Okta, Inc.)
SMH (VanEck Semiconductor ETF)
SOXY (YieldMax Target 12 Semiconductor Option Income ETF)
SPCX (S&P 500 ETF Trust)
USD (ProShares Ultra Semiconductors)

Today, in a 10-to-2 vote, the Federal Reserve decided not to raise interest rates, just as expected.
Tomorrow morning, we get the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) report for September. The PCE report measures how much everyday households spend on consumer goods and services, which makes up about two-thirds of the total U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP)—the overall measurement of the nation's economic activity. Because it covers such a broad picture of consumer spending, this is the Federal Reserve's preferred way to measure inflation.
Today in my regular investment account, I added to my existing positions in:
HOOD – Robinhood Markets, Inc.
HACK – Amplify Cybersecurity ETF
MRVL – Marvell Technology, Inc.
To further diversify away from the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector, I also started new positions in:
BUG – Global X Cybersecurity ETF
SHEL – Shell plc
WCBR – WisdomTree Cybersecurity Fund
Today in my Roth IRA, I added to my position in:
BE – Bloom Energy Corporation

Yesterday, Anthropic officially filed for their IPO, which will probably happen next month when they go public. They will trade under the ticker symbol ANT (Anthropic, PBC).
Today in my regular investment account, I added to my position in XOM (ExxonMobil Corporation).
In my Roth IRA today, I restarted a position in GLW (Corning Incorporated). I made a 26.86% profit on that position when I sold it in September, so hopefully, it will do as well this time!

The S&P 500 slipped 0.5% last week, led down by the Communication Services Sector amid worries over corporate spending on artificial intelligence (AI). With just one week remaining in the month, the S&P 500 is down 0.4% for October but up 11% this year. Gainers were led by the Energy and Health Care sectors, up 1.6% and 1.5%, respectively. Last week, oil had its biggest price surge in over a month.
Don't do anything stupid—at least I'm not going to. I'm not selling everything and sitting on the sidelines thinking we're going down 50%. There's no data indicating that our market is weak and that we're headed into another recession. Yes, the Producer Price Index (PPI) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) were higher than expected. However, unemployment is still only 4.2%. The Federal Reserve next meets on October 27–28, and the odds are very low that they are going to increase interest rates at that meeting. On October 29, we get the next Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) report. This report tracks total household spending, which equals roughly two-thirds of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP). On November 1, we get the next Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) report. A reading above 50 indicates expansion, and a reading below 50 indicates contraction. A reading of 50 means no change since the last report. This report tracks how businesses are doing and producing. Readings below 45 have accurately predicted recessions 3 to 4 months in advance!
The PPI, CPI, PCE, and PMI are reports that good investors should understand. If you aren't understanding them from my texts, I suggest you use an AI app to learn about them. I am spending more of my time trying to learn how to see when the next recession is on the horizon. I will try to explain what I learn here, but feel free to start your own research.

Even though the market was down today, because oil was up, I liked how it traded.
Today in my regular investment account, I added to my positions in CAH (Cardinal Health, Inc.), SMH (VanEck Semiconductor ETF), and USD (ProShares Ultra Semiconductors). I also started two new positions to get more diversification: CSX (CSX Corporation) and EXPD (Expeditors International of Washington, Inc.). I also sold another 25% of SOXY (YieldMax Target 12 Semiconductor Option Income ETF) because I am moving this position to my Roth IRA for tax purposes.
In my Roth IRA today, I added to my positions in BE (Bloom Energy Corporation) and WDC (Western Digital Corporation). I also sold 50% of JEDI (Defiance Drone and Modern Warfare ETF).

With the NASDAQ down 2.70% and the S&P 500 down 1.21% today, you really have to figure out why you're in this market. Are you in it to win and make money, or are you in it just to stay ahead of inflation and not lose money? I know that's an easy question to ask and a lot harder question to actually answer. Each of us has to figure out what is right for our individual risk tolerance. If you want to talk to someone who is unbiased—unlike your adult children or spouse—please give me a call.
I know the market seems to have done nothing but go down since October 6th, but if you click on the "Past Performance" tab, click on "Year to Date," and compare your portfolio to the S&P 500 (which is up 14.36% year to date), you should still be up significantly higher—if not double—than the S&P 500.
Today in my regular investment account, I added to the following positions:
SMH – VanEck Semiconductor ETF
USD – ProShares Ultra Semiconductors
XLK – Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund
I also started a new small position in:
MRVL – Marvell Technology, Inc.
To add some diversification to my portfolio, I started new positions in:
XOM – Exxon Mobil Corporation
XPO – XPO, Inc.
In my Roth IRA today, I added to the following positions:
BE – Bloom Energy Corporation
DELL – Dell Technologies Inc.
MRNY – YieldMax MRNA Option Income Strategy ETF
NVDA – NVIDIA Corporation
QTUM – Defiance Quantum ETF
SMH – VanEck Semiconductor ETF
SPCX – SpaceX Tech Shares A
I also sold 91% of my position in UFOX – Defiance Space and Connective Tech ETF, locking in a 22% profit.

Yes, we were only one week into earning season (9%) but according to FactSet data, 84% of the S&P 500 companies that have reported third-quarter actual results have beaten their earnings-per-share (EPS) estimate. That is above both the 5-year average of 77% and the 10-year average of 75%.
Today in my regular investment account, I started a new position in HACK (Amplify Cybersecurity ETF).
I do not believe this Bull Market is dead yet. It might be lame for the next couple weeks until we get past this midterm election, but eventually, I think it will recover and start acting like a real Bull Market should act.

10/19/2026

Today in my regular investment account, I sold my entire positions in CHPY (YieldMax Semiconductor Portfolio Option Income ETF) and EPOL (iShares MSCI Poland ETF). I also sold 15% of my position in SOXY (YieldMax Target 12 Semiconductor Option Income ETF). I will be selling the rest of my position in SOXY in my individual account because I learned that holding derivative income investments in a taxable account is not ideal. It is much wiser to hold them in a Roth IRA due to tax consequences. I also added to my positions in SMH (VanEck Semiconductor ETF) and USD (ProShares Ultra Semiconductors ETF).
In my Roth IRA today, I sold my entire small position in AAPL (Apple Inc.) and added to my positions in AAOI (Applied Optoelectronics, Inc.), INTC (Intel Corporation), MRNY (YieldMax MRNA Option Income Strategy ETF), SMH (VanEck Semiconductor ETF), SPCX (Space EX Tech SpaceX), TSLA (Tesla, Inc.), and USD (ProShares Ultra Semiconductors ETF). I also started new positions in AMDY (YieldMax AMD Option Income Strategy ETF) and CHPY (YieldMax Semiconductor Portfolio Option Income ETF).
FYI: According to my research, MRNY, AMDY, SOXY, and CHPY are among the top-performing YieldMax ETFs. I suggest you look into them to see if they fit your portfolio. When you do, don't just look at their percentage gain or loss for the Trailing Twelve Months (TTM); also factor in how much they have paid out in dividends during that time. If you don't want to calculate that yourself, ask Alexa how much they've paid in dividends per share over the TTM.
The more artificial intelligence (AI) you use in your research, the faster and easier that research will be.

The S&P 500 was down 2% last week and the Nasdaq fell 4.5% which broke a four-week winning streak and marked the worst weekly decline for the tech-heavy index since June. Partially because of the hotter-than-expected inflation data that rattled last week’s stock market.
Earnings season picks up next week, here are some of the companies we'll see reporting COF, Meta, 3M, GE, RTX, LMT, GM, HON, TSLA, IBM, LRCX, WDC, TXN, AXP, NFLX, PG, SLB and HAL.
The following other results of the Schwab weekly portfolio report. regular investment account:
CAH +6.94%.
AAPL +2.03%.
EPOL +1.69%.
SOXL -32.98%.
CIEN -26.02%.
FLEX -24.51%.
Roth IRA account:
DRH +6.34%.
AAPL +2.03%.
--- --- 00%.
AAOI -31.07%.
MUU -27.84%.
HIBL -26.83%.

Today in my regular investment account, I added to my positions in SMH (VanEck Semiconductor ETF), SOXY (YieldMax Target 12 Semiconductor Option Income ETF), and USD (ProShares Ultra Semiconductors). I also started a new position in CHPY (YieldMax Semiconductor Portfolio Option Income ETF).
In my Roth IRA today, I added to my positions in SMH (VanEck Semiconductor ETF), SOXY (YieldMax Target 12 Semiconductor Option Income ETF), SPCX (YieldMax SPCX Option Income Strategy ETF), and USD (ProShares Ultra Semiconductors). I also started a new position in MRNY (YieldMax MRNA Option Income Strategy ETF).
Both of the new positions that I started today (CHPY and MRNY) were found because I like SOXY. I looked to see what other funds their parent company, YieldMax, also manages.
