What if it all works out?
When Janet Zapata from 550 Pizzeria invited me to be part of this billboard recognizing local entrepreneurs, I was truly honored—and humbled.
That question on the billboard takes me back to 1997.
At the time, I was president of a local financial institution. I had a good career and a secure path ahead of me. But my wife Angie Sanchez and I decided to take a chance and leave that security behind to start Sanchez Financial Consultants.
We didn't know exactly where that leap of faith would take us. We just knew we wanted to build something of our own and, more importantly, create a business centered on helping people in our community.
From the beginning, our goal was to help people make better decisions with the money they worked so hard to earn. Back then, there weren't many options for business owners when it came to proper financial and tax planning. We wanted to help business owners maximize their profits and minimize their taxes—but also help them figure out what to do with what was left.
Over the years, that grew into something even bigger for us: helping families keep more of their hard-earned money so they could use it for the things that matter—everyday life, education, travel, their families, and their futures.
Nearly 30 years later, Angie and I are incredibly grateful for the team we've built, the clients who have trusted us, and the Laredo community that has supported us throughout the years.
So, to be included on this billboard alongside other successful local entrepreneurs—people who are making a difference in their own fields—is something I don't take for granted.
Thank you, Janet, and everyone at 550 Pizzeria, for recognizing local entrepreneurs and allowing me to be part of this special group.
And to our Laredo community: thank you for your support, your trust, and your friendship. We are truly grateful.
So, to answer the question: What if it all works out? Sometimes, you just have to take the chance and find out.
