Don't forget to schedule your appointment today to finalize your 2024 tax! I only have Monday, Tuesday after 11 and Wednesday after 5 available. Please note that if you filed an extension and fail to file on or before October 15, a late-filing fee will be applied to filers with a balance due. FYI: The tax filing deadline does not preclude you from filing your tax after October 15. The deadline is in place to encourage timely filing and keep taxpayers on top of their tax obligations. Please remember that all filings after mid to late November until late January for a back-filed return must be mailed off, and fees must be paid upfront. Happy 2.5 months away from 2026 tax season.

Small businesses with employees it is imperative that you transmit or mail in your employees wage information to the government. Employers when you issue a W2, 1099 NEC or any tax form to your employees you have the obligation to get this information to the government by Jan 31 along with form 1096. When an employer fail to comply in this area it causes tax returns to go into review because there is no information on file from the employer for the government to validate. This also put your business at risk to be fine and causes your employees/former employees refunds to be delayed for 3/8 months sometimes even longer. I know running a business can be challenging but your employees tax information being handled properly and professionally is essential.

IR-2024-209, Aug. 13, 2024 — The Internal Revenue Service today announced tax relief for individuals and businesses affected by Hurricane Debby in all 14 Vermont counties.
