We found a toilet seat.
Small Club. Big Impact.
Lancaster Hempfield Rotary Took to Harrisburg Pike
A small but mighty team of seven Rotarians from the Lancaster Hempfield Rotary rolled up their sleeves for our semi-annual road cleanup along Harrisburg Pike on Saturday, April 18 — continuing a long-standing tradition of protecting and caring for our local environment.
The morning was brisk, the rain held off, and the camaraderie was strong. Along the way, our volunteers cleared everything from everyday litter to one especially memorable find: a discarded toilet seat. (And yes—field research suggests Miller Lite may be the most popular beverage among litterers!)
But beyond the trash bags and safety vests, what really stood out was the joy of service and friendship. This project is just one example of how our club shows up consistently for East Hempfield and the greater Lancaster community.
Service That Adds Up
For more than nine years, the Lancaster Hempfield Rotary has actively pursued and received district grant matches, investing over $30,000 locally to support meaningful projects throughout Hempfield and surrounding areas.
Environmental stewardship, youth recognition, literacy support, and hands-on service are all part of what we do—because when people who care come together, real change happens.
And yes… after the cleanup, we celebrated the best way possible: with doughnuts
