I participated in the Wausau Community Development Club, Inc. Fall Festival trunk or treat tonight. I've been making the pirate-themed decorations for weeks and it paid off when I won third place! 😂 A big thank you to Robin Brown Perrone for volunteering to help me pass out candy to all those kids! We had a blast.

While we were handing out candy, Michael Walker was running the Cake Walk. He reports a great time was had by all. Until next year!

Build an emergency fund so you can leave your retirement accounts alone. You need those for when you retire- not to pay off credit cards, buy a vehicle or make home improvements while you're still working.

If you are looking for a top-notch family pet, please reach out to your local rescue organizations. We got Peach from the Polk County Bully Project about a year ago after fostering her for a couple of months.

Peach was the easiest "yes" we ever said about a dog. As silly as it may sound to some, she fills our lives with immeasurable joy. She makes it impossible to start a day in a bad mood because this face attached to a fiercely wagging body is the first thing we see in the mornings. And she's eye-level, too, because she pops those fat feet up on the edge of the bed even though she isn't supposed to because she seems to need to look us in the eye first-thing. 😊

As your financial advisor, I listen to your goals and choose investments that I believe best align with your goals. The goal most times is growth and I believe in the ability of investments to increase in value over time. However, financial advisors don't control the market. My advice? Think in the long term. Give your money time to grow. Ask your advisor when you have questions. That's what we're here for!

Last week marked the fourth anniversary of the present bull market in US equities. The SP500 has rallied 15% so far this year alone to reach a record high of 7,844 on October 6. That is more than double its bottom on October 13, 2022, for a total return of 125%.

We've entered the 4th quarter! Here's what history tells us about this time of year:

Since 1996, the S&P 500 fell during Q4 just five times, generating gains 83% of the time versus the 73% positive rate across all quarters.

Q4’s average gain of 5.6% also leads all quarters and nearly doubles the 2.8% average across all 120 observations.

No guarantees that the next 2.5 months will follow this path, of course, but the five negative Q4s over this period generally required significant economic or policy shocks.

Yesterday began a months-long journey for 11 professionals taking part in the Lead Washington County program, and I'm grateful to be among them. I'm looking forward to learning more about how the county functions and I'm really looking forward to building new friendships.

These two ladies, Rainie and Olivia, were encouraged to participate in the program by my friend Kenny Ray Mitchell with Innovations FCU.

One of the best things I've done since I've been in NW Florida this summer is to be more involved with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. Executive Director Shirley Parrado has injected an enthusiasm into this organization that is infectious. And Board Member Tamekia McKinnie is just about the happiest, most uplifting person you'll ever meet.

If you're new to an area and looking for ways to get plugged in, check out your local chamber. I bet big things are happening there.
