A new 2025 tax rule changes how tips are handled — and PYOP studio owners need to be ready.

Under the OBBBA Act, employees in certain roles can receive up to $25,000 in tax-free tips. Your studio staff aren’t specifically listed, but many may qualify under recreation & instruction or personal services, especially if they help customers or guide events.

Important:
• Employees’ tips may be tax-free, but you still pay payroll taxes on all reported tips.
• Staff may start reporting higher tip income, which can increase your payroll tax bill.
• This could also improve employee retention as they show more income on paper.
