As we approach April, I want to remind everyone of something I mentioned during your tax appointments.

Please make sure you review your paperwork and save your tax documents once they are provided to you. When your return is completed, you receive copies of your documents and your tax return for your records.

My service is tax preparation, which includes preparing and filing your tax return and providing you with your completed documents.

If you later need additional copies of your paperwork after they have already been sent to you multiple times, or if you need ongoing document retrieval and record maintenance, that falls under bookkeeping or document management services, which will require an additional service fee.

I’m always happy to assist my clients, but please understand that repeated requests for previously provided documents will require additional time and administrative work.

This notice means the IRS could NOT send your direct deposit 🏦 the way it was listed on the return.
Instead of mailing the check right away like before, the IRS may now freeze the refund ❄️ until you update your banking info in your IRS Online Account.

🚨 Quick Refund Banking Clarification 🚨

If you see a bank account on your tax return that you don’t recognize — don’t panic.

That section shows our third-party tax bank’s routing & account number, which is assigned to your return, not your personal bank.

✅ The IRS sends the refund to the tax bank
✅ The bank verifies it using part of your SSN
✅ Fees (if any) are handled correctly
✅ Funds are released securely to you

📣TAXPAYERS PLEASE READ THIS📢

If you owe back taxes, child support, student loans, unemployment overpayments, or certain government debts, your tax refund can be taken before you ever see it. This is called an offset.

An offset means your refund is applied directly to a debt you owe through the U.S. Treasury Offset Program. The money does not pass through your bank account. It goes straight to the agency you owe.

Offsets commonly happen for:

• Federal tax debt
• State tax debt
• Child support arrears
• Defaulted federal student loans
• Unemployment overpayments
• Court fines and other government obligations

Minimum amounts that can trigger an offset:

• Federal tax debt has no minimum
• Federal student loans typically $150 or more
• Child support for federal offset usually $500 or more
• State debts vary by agency but can be relatively small

If your debt qualifies, every refund you are eligible for can be taken year after year until the balance is paid in full.

Not filing does not stop the debt. Interest and penalties can continue to grow. Filing at least allows the refund to reduce what you owe without coming out of pocket.

You should still file your taxes even if you expect an offset. Reducing the balance is progress!
