Just a reminder now that we are starting a new year. Take a picture of your odometer and make sure to keep paperwork from maintenance appointments on your vehicle to substantiate your mileage.

As the year is coming to an end, I'd like to remind everyone that there is a special deduction in 2021 that allows you to deduct up to $600 in cash donations to charity for Married Filing Joint taxpayers. If you are filing single, then the deduction is up to $300. This is even if you do not itemize. Donations must be made to qualified charities using cash, check or credit card. Keep your receipts to substantiate the deduction. If you are not sure if your charity is qualified, you can check it on the IRS search tool.

The IRS announced that the 2021 tax filing season begins on Friday, February 12. To speed refunds, the IRS recommends that taxpayers file electronically and have their refund direct deposited.
