I just wanted to ask everyone to pray for LeAnne Whittemore and her family. She was diagnosed Monday with colon cancer. She is scheduled to have surgery at Skyline next Friday, July 8th, to remove at least a foot of her colon and the lymph nodes around the area. When she was in the ER in March they thought she had Colitis. The mass that was just found is in her lower abdomen but what they felt was Colitis is in the upper abdomen. He wants to possibly remove that section as well. So this will be a major surgery. She will have to spend at least a week in the hospital and then about six weeks at home recovering from the surgery. He thinks that she will most likely have to start chemo shortly after just to insure nothing was missed and because she is so young.
Good news is that the CT scan that was done when she was in the ER in March didn’t show anything on any of the other organs. The scan will be repeated next week before surgery since it has been three months. We are hoping that is was found early and it has not spread.
In true LeAnne fashion, when the doctor told her that it was cancer she worried first about her clients and how this was going to affect them. She has gotten things set up so that she will be able to work from home and I will be here daily as a go between. So if you are one of our clients please understand that she will be working as hard as she can up until surgery and as soon as she is able to when she gets home. Bare with us and together with lots of prayers, she will be back in the full swing of things in no time.
Again, please pray for her and her family and myself as well. This is going to be a difficult road for everyone but with God at the wheel all will be ok.
Thank you!

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service today announced that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an Economic Impact Payment. Instead, payments will be automatically deposited into their bank accounts.

“Social Security recipients who are not typically required to file a tax return do not need to take an action, and will receive their payment directly to their bank account,” said Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin.

The IRS will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 and Form RRB-1099 to generate $1,200 Economic Impact Payments to Social Security recipients who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019. Recipients will receive these payments as a direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their benefits.

Also, please remember that no one from the IRS or the social security administration will be reaching out to you by phone, email, mail or in person asking for any kind of information to complete your stimulus payment.

We have received a large influx of phone calls so hopefully this will answer some of your questions about the Stimulus payment. The IRS has indicated that those who normally are not required to file taxes may need to file a "simple tax return" in order to get a stimulus payment. At this time, the IRS has NOT provided instructions on how this should be done. If a return is just created for the purpose of getting the payment without using the proper forms at the request of the IRS, we may create more challenges for those taxpayers.

We will provide more information on how to file taxes for those who need a "simple tax return" as soon as we receive it.

Please be patient with us as this is something new for everyone.

We have received a notice from the IRS concerning acceptance of tax returns. They will not accept returns until January 30th. You can make your appointments or drop off your information with us before the 30th, and we can complete and advise you of your refund amount, but we can not file the return with the IRS until January 30th.
This means that you should not expect your refund check until mid February. We are truly sorry about the inconvenience of this.

Please be aware that the IRS will NEVER contact you by phone or email concerning tax issues. The IRS will only contact you via the US Postal Service in letter form concerning any taxes you owe or that may be owed to you. PLEASE DO NOT contact any individuals that leave you messages stating "you are owed back taxes, or that you owe back taxes" or give them any personal information over the phone or in email. These could very well be phishing scams or unscrupulous individuals trying to obtain your personal information for fraudulent use. As always, if you have any questions, contact your tax accountant, or the IRS directly at 1-800-829-1040.
