TAX ACCOUNTANT OPPORTUNITY

SCOPE OF WORK
• Prepare accurate corporate and individual Federal and State tax returns
• Process payroll with multiple withholdings and prepare corresponding payroll tax returns
• Prepare state and local tax returns such as business tax return, tangible personal property schedules, annual reports, sales tax returns, etc.
• Research tax laws for tax preparation or tax resolution
• Recommend tax strategies
• Review internal or client-prepared bookkeeping for accuracy
• Communicate professional opinion to clients regarding tax findings or issues
• Seek out and recommend process improvements to the Firm’s systems and controls to optimize client services and/or the client experience
• Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality of client and firm information
• Notify management of any unusual or significant matters that may arise during performance of duties
• Eagerly learn new skill sets and pursue an in-depth knowledge of pertinent tax law changes
• Patiently assist clients with technical training, tax/bookkeeping questions or other client needs
• Support team by performing administrative duties when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS
• Professional experience in public accounting
• CPA license or pursuing CPA license preferred
• Bachelor’s in Accounting preferred
• Proficient in use of computers and Microsoft software applications
• Familiarity with tax and accounting software packages
• Mastery of accounting and bookkeeping procedures

• Greets clients and answers client calls in a warm, knowledgeable manner
• Organizes office information workflow systems
• Continually seeks innovative ways to streamline office procedures
• Maintains data integrity of client information in multiple systems
• Schedules client appointments and telephone conferences
• Responsible for new client intake process and information setup
• Maintains electronic and paper filing systems including systematic retention, protection, retrieval and disposal of client and office records
• Tracks and orders office supplies and other inventory needs while seeking out cost savings options
• Reviews project reports to verify filing deadlines will be met
• Utilizes technology to increase firm efficiencies
• Performs light bookkeeping duties
• Requests payments when client account is delinquent
• Coordinates office technology systems and general repairs and maintenance with approved vendors
• Recommends process improvements to the Firm’s systems and controls to optimize client services and/or the client experience
• Maintains strict privacy and confidentiality of client and firm information
• Notifies management of any unusual or significant matters that may arise during performance of duties
• Eagerly learns new skill sets to advance their knowledge of the industry
• Patiently assist clients with information requests, questions and other client needs
• Fulfills other various administrative tasks

• Basic understanding of accounting and bookkeeping procedures, a plus

OVERVIEW
The Bookkeeper/Office Manager will perform bookkeeping for select clients through reviewing and processing client data, understanding client needs and expectations, apply previously attained knowledge to client’s information to best serve the client in an effective, efficient and timely manner as well as organize and coordinate the day-to-day office administration. The Firm's client-centered goals and positive culture should be displayed in all professional communications with clients and co-workers to foster positive working relationships in every contact.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Processes client data following Firm policies and procedures. Alerts supervisor of unusual or significant opportunities or issues relating to client data. Assists other team members with client and workload obligations by coordinating client relations and data management as well as suggesting process improvements. Self-manages by prioritizing workload to meet internal and external deadlines. Effectively communicates with clients, team members and supervisor. Works in coordination with other team members to maintain and promote a positive team-oriented workplace.
• Maintaining accurate ledgers
• Recording and depositing accounts receivable
• Posting and timely paying accounts payable
• Reconciling multiple bank accounts
• Posting charges to appropriate ledgers
• Commission calculations and payments
• Monthly reporting of financial statements to company owners
• Various other bookkeeping functions

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience – 3+ years work experience, customer/client service experience preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Successful problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Good project management, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Strong time-management skills.
Good sense of humor.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to sit and/or stand and use a computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to provide own transportation.

We are a growing West Knoxville/Farragut CPA firm that has an opportunity for an Office Manager. The position will have the primary duty of managing the office by answering phones, greeting clients, traveling to the PO/bank, ordering office supplies, contacting vendors, etc. The position will also be responsible for light bookkeeping duties. Bookkeeping experience preferred but we will train the right person. Job requirements are a positive attitude, willingness to learn, pride in work and solid work ethic. Must have a reliable vehicle. Office hours are 9-5 M-F. Part time considered. Hourly pay DOE with mileage reimbursement at the published IRS mileage rate.
