🚨 FLORIDA HOMEOWNERS: Could Your Property Tax Bill Soon Drop Dramatically? 🏠💰
Governor DeSantis has announced a new proposal that could significantly reduce, and eventually eliminate, property taxes for many Florida primary homeowners.
Here’s what’s being proposed:
✅ Raise the homestead exemption to $250,000
✅ Potentially eliminate property taxes for an estimated 60% of homesteaded Florida homeowners
✅ Create a pathway that could eventually protect up to 92% of primary homes if exemptions increase further
✅ Put more money back into homeowners’ pockets each year
To be clear: this is not law yet. The proposal would need to move through the Legislature and, if placed on the ballot, would need voter approval in November 2026. Constitutional amendments in Florida generally require 60% voter approval to pass.
But imagine what this could mean…
Instead of sending thousands every year in property taxes, homeowners could potentially use that money to:
💰 Pay down debt faster
📈 Invest for the future
🏡 Improve their home
🧾 Build emergency savings
👨👩👧 Create more breathing room in the monthly budget
This could be a major financial shift for Florida homeowners.
Question for you:
If your property tax bill dropped or disappeared, what would you do with the extra money?
