We’re looking for a Tax Accountant who is comfortable working in a collaborative small-firm environment, handling tax compliance and supporting planning work, and who wants to grow their career with us.
Position Summary
The Tax Accountant will be responsible for handling tax engagements (compliance and some planning support) for clients, taking ownership of assigned returns, communicating with clients, and working under the guidance of the firm’s leadership. This role is ideal for experienced tax accountants who have strong technical ability (especially in individual and business entity tax returns), are working toward or hold an EA or CPA credential, and are looking to advance.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and review federal, state and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S‑corporations, C‑corporations, and trust.
· Assist in tax planning and research for clients
· Serve as a contact for assigned clients, build client relationships under supervision.
· Work with other staff or bookkeeping/accounting team to ensure tax data accuracy.
· Stay current on tax law, regulations and guidance
· Meet deadlines, manage multiple engagements during tax season and beyond.
· Maintain documentation and assist with quality control of tax engagements.
· Contribute to firm growth through high quality service and possible business‑development support.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
· EA (Enrolled Agent) credential or CPA (or actively pursuing) preferred.
· 2–5 years of tax accounting experience (public accounting experience is a plus).
· Experience preparing individual returns and business entity returns (partnership, S‑corp, C‑corp).
· Good technical tax knowledge; ability to do research and apply conclusions.
· Strong communication (written, verbal) and client‑service orientation.
· Proficiency with tax software (Lacerte is a bonus) and Microsoft Excel.
· Ability to handle multiple deadlines and work in a small‑firm, team‑oriented setting.
