Something big is buzzing at the Hive ... 🐝

Over the past few years - I've had the privilege of helping individuals, couples, and families navigate some of life's biggest financial milestones. From paying off debt and building investment portfolios to buying homes and creating the future they envision for themselves.

And through all of those conversations, reviews, check-ins, budgets, and spending summaries, I've noticed something:

The biggest breakthroughs rarely came from the budget itself.

They came from having structure instead of chaos.

They came from having clarity instead of guessing or hoping for the best.

They came from having someone in their corner helping them understand their finances, make informed decisions, and move forward with confidence.

Yes, the spreadsheets matter for visibility.

Yes, the accountability and personalized recommendations matter for growth.

You know what’s terrifying?

A lot of millennials aren’t actually “bad with money.”

They’re just operating a full adult household on:

✨ vibes
✨ mental math
✨ avoidance
✨ and mild financial panic

And somehow that became normal.

So now I see households making GOOD money while still:

🚩 avoiding their bank accounts
🚩 using bonuses to catch up instead of get ahead
🚩 putting irregular expenses on credit cards
🚩 stress spending because life feels exhausting
🚩 quietly carrying lifestyle debt
🚩 hoping next month will magically feel easier

Meanwhile everyone online is screaming: “just stop buying coffee ☺️”

Respectfully … stop talking.

Most millennial women don’t need another budgeting spreadsheet.

They need a system that works when life is chaotic, they’re overstimulated, exhausted, emotionally drained, and carrying 47 invisible responsibilities at once.

Because the issue usually isn’t that you’re irresponsible.

It’s that nobody taught millennials how to manage money in a modern economy where:

groceries are insane
burnout is constant
and convenience spending is one click away 24/7.

Most people think they need to cut back.

But that’s not what I see when I look at their numbers.

When I first meet with a client, I always ask two things:

“What do you think you spend each month?”
“And what are your top 3 spending categories?”

They answer confidently.

But the moment I actually look at their numbers …

Almost every time - they’re under.

Not by a little, but by hundreds… and sometimes even thousands.

Not because they’re irresponsible or they just don't care.

Ever wonder what a real couples trip budget looks like? Here’s ours!

We went to Branson for the weekend with a plan:

$500 per person MAX - that’s it.

Not a guess. Not “we’ll see what happens.” An actual plan that we reviewed and set in place before we left Kansas City.

And I think that’s why the trip felt so different.

We weren’t tracking things the whole time.
We weren’t saying no to everything.

We were just … there. together.

Hiking a trail that was muddier than expected.
Playing mini golf and getting way too competitive.
Paying for one experience that honestly wasn’t worth it.
And eating Subway on the balcony … which somehow was.

And when we got home and added everything up…

We had spent $408 per person.

That’s the part I don’t think people talk about enough.

Not just “here’s what to do” - but what it actually costs, what’s worth it, and what’s not.

So I wrote the whole weekend out exactly how it happened - every stop, every number, every honest take.
