For e-filed returns, you’ll often see the first transcript update about 2–3 weeks after the IRS accepts your return.

For the 2026 tax season under the PATH Act (which affects refunds that include the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)):

📅 Key Dates for PATH Act Refunds

Mandatory hold period:
• The IRS cannot issue refunds for PATH-affected returns before February 15, 2026 — that’s when the PATH Act hold expires.

✅ PATH Act holds refunds until at least Feb 15, 2026
✅ First direct deposits for PATH refunds are likely in the last week of February 2026
✅ Many refunds hit accounts late Feb to early March

📅 Update Frequency
• Account and Return Transcripts: These usually update daily (Tuesday through Saturday), especially once your return is in IRS processing. Updates often happen overnight and appear early morning (e.g., between midnight and ~6 AM ET), with Tuesdays seeing a lot of activity.
