Keep track of miles driven for business throughout the year, have a system of tracking/recording all expenses, keep all business-related receipts and have them organized. Take Advantage of Tax Deductions-There are so many tax deductions available to a small business and its important to take advantage of those as they can help reduce your taxable income and, in some cases, even increase a tax refund.
Reduce your Risk of Audit-Make sure you only claim expenses that you can truly prove with a receipt/statement and never report expenses you cannot substantiate. Avoid reporting round numbers as this can be a red flag for audit. Stay consistent with what you report year to year and that expenses are consistent with your type of business.
