🚨CLIENTS READ THIS BEFORE YOU FILE YOUR TAXES🚨
Let’s break down something most people don’t understand: ghost preparers and the difference between a PTIN holder and an EFIN holder.

❌ What is a Ghost Preparer?
A ghost preparer is somebody doing taxes illegally.
Here’s how you know you’re dealing with one:
• They refuse to put their name on your tax return
• Your return shows “Self-prepared” even though THEY did it
• They don’t have an EFIN
• They can’t sign anything because they are not legally approved to file taxes!

Ghost preparers disappear when something goes wrong and YOU get stuck with the bill, the audit, or the IRS letter.

🟡 What is a PTIN Holder?
A PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) is the bare minimum someone needs to prepare taxes for pay.
No background check.
No fingerprinting.
Just $20 and they can prepare returns.
PTIN holders cannot legally transmit returns unless they work under someone who has an EFIN.

🟢 What is an EFIN Holder / ERO?
(Check out the IRS website to find us!)

An EFIN is for Electronic Filing Identification.
This is what the IRS gives to real tax offices.
To get an EFIN, you must pass:
• A full background check
• Fingerprinting
• Identity verification
• IRS approval
This is the person who is legally responsible for the tax business and for every return filed under that EFIN.

🚩 RED FLAGS You Should Never Ignore
• They’ve been doing taxes for years and STILL don’t have an EFIN
• Your return says self-prepared
• They want cash only
• They have no business address (even for virtual offices) or software access
• They can’t show you their PTIN or EFIN info

💬 Final Word

Everybody saying they do taxes is NOT the same.
Some of us are vetted, trained, and do this by the book. Others are ghost preparers running scams and playing with people’s refunds.

Know the difference.
Protect your money.
Protect your name.
Protect your tax season.

TAX TIP: Your Kids Won’t Be “Dependents” Forever, Plan Ahead!

As your children grow, your tax benefits change and sometimes disappear. If your child is nearing age 17 or getting ready to head to college, it’s time to start planning for those shifts.

📉 What Happens When Your Child Turns 17?
You lose eligibility for the Child Tax Credit (worth up to $2,200) the year they turn 17. But there’s still hope:

💡 You may qualify for the Credit for Other Dependents, a credit of up to $500.

🎓 Is Your Child Going to College?
Don’t miss out on the American Opportunity Tax Credit, worth up to $2,500 per year for each eligible student in their first 4 years of college. There's also the Lifetime Learning Credit, which is worth up to $2,000 per tax return for continued education.

👛 Pro Tip: Consider shifting financial strategies like using a 529 Plan for education or even hiring your teen in your business (yes, it’s legal and can be tax-smart!).

📅 As your kids age, your tax return evolves. Smart families plan ahead to reduce tax surprises later.

Need help preparing for these transitions? Let’s talk about a strategy that grows with your family. 💼📈

🚫 Don’t File Your Taxes Using Your Last Check Stub!

Your final pay stub is NOT the same as your W-2. It may be missing important info like employer corrections, retirement contributions, updated tax withholdings, and other adjustments. Filing with a check stub can lead to rejected returns, delays, or owing money later.

✔️ Always wait for your official W-2
✔️ Protect your refund and avoid IRS issues

If you’re unsure or need help filing correctly, I’ve got you! 💼✨

✨ Tax Tip of the Day: Don’t Leave Money on the Table — Track Your Life, Not Just Your Receipts

Most people only track the purchases they make, but the IRS rewards the life events you go through.
Had a baby? Moved for a better job? Paid for childcare? Started a side hustle? Even small changes can unlock thousands in credits and deductions.

The key is this: your life creates the numbers — strategy turns them into savings.
If you want your refund to reflect your reality, document those life events now, not in April.

Next Step: Grab your FREE Tax Story Checklist at www.solo.to/indyvested so we can turn your everyday life into intentional tax strategy.

If you see the Fuel Tax Credit knowing you not running a farm, a bulldozer, an airplane business . Runnnnnn 🙅🏾‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️

Form 4136 is for specific off-highway business fuel uses only , not for regular driving or errands.

The IRS now wants a Statement Supporting Fuel Tax Credit (FTC) Computation attached with these claims, and they’re flagging social-media schemes hard.

File wrong and you risk frozen refunds, audits, and penalties (about $5,000 per return) — don’t fall for “everybody qualifies” hype.

Be honest… has a tax preparer ever “hooked you up” with credits or deductions you didn’t qualify for, and now the IRS wants their money back?
Yeah… that “hook-up” hits different when the letter comes in. 😒

Some preparers care more about boosting refunds than protecting you.
And when an audit pops up? They vanish like they never met you. 🏃🏽‍♀️💨

That’s EXACTLY why you need someone who does taxes the right way.
No fake businesses.
No made-up kids.
No illegal credits.
Just real, honest, documented numbers.

If you want a preparer who is going to tell you the truth, protect your money, and actually stand behind their work—
