IRS has announced the start of e-filing for the coming tax season as January 26th.

Typically the IRS opens up e-file approximately 1 week prior to the official start date for testing their systems. The tentative dates for these testing periods are January 14th - 16th and January 20th - 23rd.

We we will keep you posted on this as more info becomes available, but as of now, plan for the IRS to start processing returns towards the end of next week!

Tax Season will officially begin on January 27th.

Hub testing expected to begin on January 15th. You will be able to send in-season refund advances starting on the first day of hub testing!

FD HQ is heading into full tax season hours beginning January 15th. M-F: 9am-9pm est. Saturday: 10am-6pm est.

BREAKING NEWS RE: BOI REPORTS

Just yesterday, Dec 3rd, there has been a nation wide preliminary injunction against enforcement of the upcoming mandatory BOI reporting deadline of January 1st 2025. This is a preliminary injunction and we do assume the government will be appealing the decision, but as it stands now, the reporting deadline of January 1st 2025 is now not enforceable.

Federal Direct is still completing BOI reports for partners and small business clients. If you or your client need a BOI report completed please complete the engagement letter and BOI questionnaire and upload these documents along with the beneficial owners IDs to the Federal Direct Partner Portal for completion. The necessary documents and the necessary upload tool is located on the FD partner portal / Partner Resources / ERO Resources / BOI Reporting.

Happy Thanksgiving! We hope everyone has a great holiday spent with friends and family!

Federal Direct Corporate office and support services will be closed Thursday 11/28 & Friday 11/29 in celebration of the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will resume normal business hours of Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm Eastern on Monday December 2nd.

Reminder that returns are due 9/16/2024 for Scorps and Partnerships previously on extension. Be sure to get these returns processed before the end of the day Monday 9/16 and monitor for any rejections that need to be fixed and resubmitted over the next several days to ensure timely filing.

Individual 1040 returns on extension have 1 more month to finalize and file. Deadline for Individual returns is 10/15.
