I have been given the honor of being invited to join the host committee for this year's Aggie Impact Gala Weekend in College Station.

The Aggie Impact Gala Weekend is a weekend long celebration, organized by The Texas A & M University Black Former Student Network, which raises money to fund scholarships for deserving underserved students on campus.

The weekend brings together Black Aggie alumni, current students , business professionals and community leaders to recognize trailblazers, network, celebrate achievement and to help build new pathways for underserved Aggies to cover the costs of their undergraduate education.

The year's celebration will be held from November the 6th to November the 8th on the campus of Texas A & M University in College Station.

We had the opportunity to be the insurance provider for the 13th Annual Jamie's Hope Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Jamie's Hope is non profit organization that has a focus on fighting cancer.

The organization over the course of its existence has raised funds for cancer research. They have invested in precision oncology, which is a personalized approach to cancer which focuses on specific genetic and molecular changes inside a patient's tumor rather than focusing on the organ where the cancer started.

Jamie's Hope has funded multiple patient and family programs that support cancer warriors. These programs include their annual Angel Tree gift giving initiative, The Bald Is Beautiful campaign, and their Adopt A Patient program that provides cash assistance to eligible cancer patients.

They also know how to have fun.

Jamie's Hope Celebrity Golf Tournament is a perennially sold out golf tournament that is one the organization's largest fundraisers.

Notable Houston celebrities that have played in Jamie's Hope Golf Tournanent are former Houston Rockets Coach Rudy T, Cy Young Winner Roger Clemens, former NFL quarterback Vince Young and multiple members of The Houston Texans football team.

I had the pleasure of enjoying an evening with my peoples @ The Fifty Shades Of Green Awards Gala held at the Grand Tuscany Hotel.

Fifty Shades Of Green was a weekend long themed event that served as a celebration of community activism, enterpreneurship, and political consciousness in our area.

The University Of Houston Football team started off their season with a win over visiting Oregon State @ TDECU Stadium over Labor Day weekend.

I had the pleasure of tailgating with the award winning Code Red Tailgaters before the game.

I also had the guilty pleasure of drinking an unknown drink while tailgating ( see the video below). Which by the way is not recommended for anyone over the age of 22.

I just had one.

I am happy to report that I suffered no ill side effects.

Great time. Great People. My favorite college football team won the game.

J And B Financial had the opportunity to be a vendor at this year's Juneteenth celebration @ Emancipation Park in 3rd Ward Texas.

This event featured food, music , art and community all geared toward celebrating Juneteenth, the federal holiday that recognizes the final proclamation and enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation which ended slavery in the United States.

Our small business believes very strongly in the importance of supporting the communities that we live in and do business in.

I had the opportunity to spend my lunch hour with The Houston Area Urban League during this year's Advancing Opportunity Luncheon held at the Hilton America's in Downtown Houston.

The theme of this year's luncheon was Mobility In Motion, focusing on investments in people, pathways, and progress to help our community prosper economically.

The resilience of Houstonians, our innovation in business, and our support for each other during national disasters were key points in the discussion that truly resonated with me.

Houstonians have historically faced a wide variety of challenges, including energy busts, hurricanes, industrial accidents, pandemics, and the growing pains of developing into a world-class city.

Yet, we maintain a sense of optimism when life throws curveballs.

We power through challenges.

We find ways to figure things out together.
