IRS UPDATE FOR TAX PROFESSIONALS

The IRS has created the Tax Professional Management Office (TPMO), effective June 28, 2026, to bring key tax professional programs and services under one office.
What this means for Tax Pros:

- Improved communication with the IRS
- Enhanced practitioner support
- Expansion of digital tools and Tax Pro Accounts
- Better coordination of tax professional services
- More focus on education and compliance resources

What stays the same?
- PTIN Program
- Enrolled Agent Program
- Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP)
- Circular 230 Oversight

The goal is simple: create a better experience for tax professionals and strengthen the relationship between the IRS and the tax community.
