Congrats to Anasuya Kabad, CFP® for being a named as a 2023 Invest in Others Charitable Foundation Finalist for the Emerging Impact Award through her volunteer work with Daya Houston.

As a finalist for the award, Daya Houston will receive a $25,000 grant. Each dollar goes to helping survivors access culturally specific resources to leave abusive relationships, navigate the complex legal and immigration systems, process their trauma through qualified counseling, and become independent citizens in our community, living free from violence.

Daya empowers South Asian survivors of domestic and sexual violence through free and confidential culturally specific services. The ironic part about talking to the next generation about wealth transfer is you DON'T have to start with the dollar values, the balance sheet, or the amounts.

Don't get me wrong...the dollar values will come up in due time, but you don't have to START with that.

Why? Money means so much more than just the dollars - it represents the first generation's history, values, and the opportunities it will provide for future. So let's start the conversation with talking about
🔷 where did this money come from? Your money story!
🔷 what's important to us about money?
🔷 what do we want that money to achieve for future generations and for the community at large?

When wealth transfer conversations start with VALUES, it reminds the next generation about gratitude and can give them a sense of purpose instead of entitlement.
