As a women and working in financial services I found this to be an interesting article. It's so important to create good money habits but sometimes we just aren't wired to do so. So how do we work to overcome it? I try everyday not just for myself but also for my clients.

Women are being diagnosed with ADHD later in life, and research is showing that people with it can have problems managing money.

I've seen David McKnight speak and read his book. Really interesting and powerful concepts. Permanent life insurance is frowned upon by a lot of financial gurus, I felt the same when I lead Financial Peace University classes. After being in the business for 6 years I definitely have changed my tune; I even own some. As David McKnight says there is a place for it in your portfolio.

Many financial gurus have a deep hatred for permanent life insurance. Anything other than term insurance is toxic. Dave Ramsey believes that anyone who gets ...

Day 5: Babies & Children in At-Risk Environments (REACH)

On this final day of Little Black Dress Initiative, Junior League of The Woodlands would like to address babies and children in at-risk environments. Through our REACH (REsources for Abused CHildren) committee, JLTW partners with The Montgomery County Coalition Against Child Abuse to counter child endangerment by supporting awareness, prevention, and intervention programs.

What impact can JLTW make with your donation? REACH directly supports children in north Harris and south Montgomery counties by partnering with and distributing needed items and emergency resources (e.g., beds, clothing, formula, diapers) to organizations such as CASA Child Advocates, Community Partners of Montgomery County & The Rainbow Room, Angel Reach, and The Champion Project.

To report abuse, call the Texas 24/7 abuse hotline at 800-252-5400.

Help me address child abuse. All funds raised help us address poverty issues in our community.

Day 4: Food Insecurity (H.A.P.P.Y)

On the 4th day of our Little Black Dress Initiative, Junior League of The Woodlands is proud to share an outreach that is 100% resourced through our league volunteers. Throughout the school year, JLTW’s Healthy Appetites Promote Positive Youth program partners with area schools to provide weekend backpacks of healthy, child-friendly, nonperishable, and easily consumed food.

What impact can JLTW make with your donation? 1 in 5 children in Texas face food insecurity and the continued expansion of this program allows JLTW to provide over 1,000 meals for the weekend and 1,500 daily snacks to hungry children in a total of 13 Harris and Montgomery County elementary schools.

Help me address hunger. All funds raised help us address poverty issues in our community.

Day 3: Human Trafficking (New Beginnings)

It’s unimaginable to think that human trafficking is happening in our own neighborhoods and, on Day 3 of our Little Black Dress Initiative, I’d like to highlight the work that Junior League of The Woodlands is doing to raise awareness, bust myths about human trafficking, and support victims who are in rehabilitation.

Did you know that 313,000 people are being trafficked in Texas, including 79,000 children and youth who are victims of s*x trafficking?

What impact can JLTW make with your donation? JLTW raises awareness to combat trafficking and provides direct support to community partners who are coming to the aid of victims in the greater Houston area, cited by the Department of Justice as one of the most intense trafficking areas in the country.

Human Trafficking Hotline: Call 1-888-373-7888 or Text “HELP” or “INFO” to 233733

Help me address human trafficking. All funds raised help us address poverty issues in our community.

Day 2: Teen Empowerment (INSTEP)

On the second day of our LBDI campaign, our focus is on teen empowerment. Through INSTEP (In Support of Teen Empowerment and Progress), Junior League members develop youth empowerment programs to help teens improve social skills, academic achievement, and self-esteem. Young people with access to positive role models and activities are less likely to engage in dangerous behaviors and show evidence of higher rates of successful transitions into adulthood.

One issue that INSTEP tackles is period poverty. Did you know that 1 in 4 young women struggle to afford period products which are unsupported by government benefit programs?
What impact can JLTW make with your donation? In 2022, INSTEP distributed almost 44,000 feminine hygiene products to 5 school districts, combatting the effects of period poverty such as school or class absences.

Help me support youth and teens in our community so they can have a brighter future. All funds raised help us address poverty issues in our community.
