Meet Shala L. Walker, CFP®!

Shala joined Wealth Development Strategies as Director of Financial Planning Operations after working in the wealth management industry in various capacities for nearly 15 years.

Ms. Walker is a Houston-area native, graduating from Pearland High School, and earned a B.A. in Finance at Clark Atlanta University. She holds the FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses, the Certified Financial Planner ™ designation, and she recently completed the Certified Private Wealth Advisor program at Yale University. When Shala isn’t working, she enjoys exercising, traveling & experiencing new restaurants. She also loves sports and truly believes that it is possible to be a Houston Texans fan and a Dallas Cowboys fan.

Meet our Marketing Intern Syanne! Syanne is a sophomore at Mesa Community College majoring in business and organizational management. At Wealth Development Strategies, she closely collaborates with the financial planning intern on various summer projects, including venue research, prospect lists, promotional product analysis, and client meeting preparation. Additionally, she handles phone calls and emails to gather client information. When Syanne is not at work, she enjoys watching her favorite shows, taking summer classes, and spending quality time with her little cousins. Syanne is a great addition to our team!

The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is a crucial tool used to determine a student's eligibility for federal financial aid, including grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study program funds.

The deadline to submit a FAFSA form for the 2024-2025 school year is 11:59 p.m. CT on June 30, 2025. ⏰🗓️

CIS of Houston raised over $850.00 to support the students of Houston.

Meet Our Intern Adel! Adel is a student at the University of Houston majoring in Finance (specialization in Personal Financial Planning) with a minor in Spanish for the Global Professions. At Wealth Development Strategies, she does a variety of tasks, including shadowing client meetings, supporting the completion of financial planning documents, and researching new resources and online tools that can help enhance our financial planning process and organization. When Adel is not at work, she enjoys going on dates with her boyfriend, watching Netflix, and planning for future goals and trips. Adel is such an asset to our team!
