Please welcome Joanna Tomchak, our new Client Advisory Services supervisor in our Maui office! Joanna grew up in Macau and moved to the U.S. to attend Maui Community College. She later earned her BBA in accounting from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

Outside of work, Joanna enjoys playing tennis 🎾, watching Grand Slam tournaments and learning about history through documentaries. She also loves exploring different cuisines and trying street food while traveling. Her favorite treat is a warm pineapple bun from a traditional Chinese bakery.

Fun fat: Joanna learned balloon twisting while working for a nonprofit and spent several years creating balloon animals for children and seniors during holiday celebrations. 🎈

Say hello to Tyler Guard, our new audit associate! Born and raised on O‘ahu, Tyler attended Saint Louis School and graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute. He later attended college in the Bay Area, where he earned a degree in marine engineering and a U.S. Coast Guard unlimited horsepower engineering license. Before returning home to pursue accounting, Tyler sailed across the Pacific and Atlantic oceans abroad a variety of ships 🚢.

Outside of work, Tyler enjoys dirt bike riding, surfing, foiling, golfing and just about anything outdoors 🏄⛳. He’s also a fan of Game of Thrones, The Sopranos and the James Bond movies.

Fun fact: One of the most remote places Tyler has visited is Thule, Greenland, located within the Arctic Circle. He traveled there while working abroad ships and experienced firsthand the extreme weather that can make the area difficult to reach.

Meet Eric Hwang, our new audit associate! Born on O‘ahu and raised on Maui, Eric graduated from Baldwin High School and recently earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Since graduating in May, he has been studying for the CPA exams and recently traveled to California and South Korea.

Outside of work, Eric enjoys golfing ⛳, diving, bodyboarding, gaming and photography 📸. He’s also a fan of Bloodhounds, La La Land and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. When it comes to food, some of his favorites are meat jun, steak, tacos and just about anything Korean 🍽️.

Fun fact: Eric’s longest recorded golf drive is an impressive 350 yards!
