Everybody loves saying “I’ll just amend it myself” until tax language start looking like another language 😭
Yes, you CAN DIY your amendment using Form 1040-X — the IRS correction form.
If your return is super simple, you forgot one form, or need a minor correction, you might be okay doing it yourself.
BUT…
If you:
• own a business
• claimed dependents or credits wrong
• forgot multiple income forms
• got an IRS notice
• or honestly have no clue what changed…
…getting a tax professional is usually the BETTER option.
Why? Because amendments aren’t just “fixing one line.” One correction can change your refund, credits, balance owed, or even your state taxes too 💀
Sometimes saving money upfront creates a bigger headache later.
DIY if it’s simple.
Get professional help if it’s complicated.
That’s the real cheat code 🤝🏽
Comment ‘Amend’ if you need help.
