Today is the deadline to pay 2025 Property Taxes. We will be here until 5:00, but we close for lunch from Noon until 1. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we are nearing the end of this most unusual tax season!!

County property tax bills were mailed on February 13th. HOWEVER, if you filed an appeal on your property, I am holding your bill. Some have already settled, so I wanted to adjust the bill to reflect the new fair market value. Do not be alarmed. You will be given 60 days to pay the bill. It is just taking me a little while to manually rebill the approximately 300 appeals that were filed.

Finally, our 2025 county property tax bills were mailed on Friday, February 13, 2026. Unfortunately, it appears that on bills where previous years are due, the back tax amount may be incorrect. Possibly, the amount showing in the back tax portion of the bill does not show interest and penalties that have accrued since the original due date. Therefore, if you owe taxes from previous years, please call our office to verify the total due on your account.
What a tax year! I know we will ALL be glad when this one is over! As always, we appreciate your patience.

ACCORDING TO OUR PROCESSOR, THE 2025 PROPERTY TAX BILLS WERE MAILED TODAY. EVERYONE SHOULD START RECEIVING THEM NEXT WEEK.

02/12/2026

Finally, our 2025 property tax bills are in the hands of our printers. Hopefully, they will be mailed out in a few days. Due date will be April 20, 2026.

UPDATE.... The county, city and school board are preparing to advertise their proposed millage rates in next week's paper, If any of them expect to increase their millage rate they will be required by law to have 3 public hearings over the span of at least 14 days. Since this all happens right in the middle of the holidays, this will delay tax bills even further. After the rates are set in early January, we must wait on state approval of the digest and for our processor to print and mail our bills. Hopefully, the bills will be out in late January or early February. The due date will be at least 60 days after they are mailed.
Also, if your birthday is in January or February, and you still pay ad valorem tax annually on your tag renewal, you may get a vehicle registration renewal notice that does not have a total due showing. This is because we must have the millage rates finalized before it can be figured. Please come in as close to your birthday as possible, and we may have the rates in the system so that you won't have to make 2 trips. This will not affect those renewals that only pay a tag fee each year.

Just a reminder that the tax billing process has been delayed and we hope to have the bills to you in January.

11/18/2025

Just to update everyone, the 45 day window to appeal the value of your property with the Tax Assessor is over. Next, we start the millage rate process. With processing waits and advertising requirements, this will take well into December. After that we must submit all the required paperwork to the state and wait for approval to print and collect the property tax bills. With the holidays approaching, it is looking more and more like the bills won't come out until January, if everything goes well. I will try to keep you updated as we continue the process.
