Summer Watch List!

We asked our team, "What are you reading, watching, listening to?" Here's what they said.

Tim just finished the 3rd season of “The Diplomat”, a political thriller on Netflix.

Kerrie just watched, "That Thing You Do." She said it's a great classic with Tom Hanks that always makes her laugh. She also plans on rewatching some of the Marvel movies to prepare for the new "Spiderman" and "Doomsday" coming out.

Cody said, "With two little kids at home it is Disney movie central. Lately we’ve had "Toy Story 1-4" on repeat and are getting excited for "Toy Story 5" as it will be Campbell’s first time at the movies."

Rebecca just watched "Project Hail Mary" and found it to be a really fun and engaging sci-fi movie—definitely worth watching. It had a great mix of humor and suspense that kept me interested the whole time. Later she's planning to start reading "Expiration Dates" by Rebecca Serle.

Lance is reading "Roughing It" by Mark Twain, a classic written early in his career about traveling the U.S., the old-fashioned way.

Luke has been re-watching the show “Suits” on Netflix for the second time as he really enjoys the high-stakes legal action part of the show. He also just started watching the show “The Pitt” on HBO Max with his fiancé.

Kyler said, "We're enjoying travel vloggers on YouTube. Our favorite is an Australian couple called "Sailing La Vagabonde" who sail around the world as a family of four.

Kelsey has been listening to Amy Poehler's podcast, "Good Hang."

Rachel just started "Dutton Ranch," and has been listening to memoir-style audio books.

Katie just finished "The Boroughs" on Netflix and started watching "Task" on HBO. She recommends both.

It has been one month since Brady and Riley started their internships with The Avalune Group! What have they learned and noticed so far in their journey?

Riley:
There’s never a dull day with fun coworkers.
I’ve noticed how much company values are actually incorporated into everyday work, not just talked about.
I’ve learned how much preparation and attention to detail goes into supporting advisors and their client relationships.

Brady:
I’ve learned how to provide advisors with the information they need to support them in their client meetings, which includes relevant information about the history of the client and what can be done in the future.
I’ve already noticed that the work I’m doing is truly meaningful. It’s helping our advisors in a big way, and it makes me happy to know that I’m a part of the team.
As I’ve observed client meetings, I’ve learned how rewarding being a financial advisor can be. When a client expresses sincere gratitude after a meeting, it makes you understand the impact that you have in their life and motivates you to continue being a good steward of their assets.

Lakeshore Habitat has continued to increase its capacity to build and repair homes, partnering with families and individuals in our community who are working hard to achieve their dreams of affordable homeownership in Ottawa and Allegan counties.

Meet Riley, our newest intern. Riley is a senior at Grand Valley State University, studying Finance. He likes hiking, watching and playing sports, especially basketball, and hanging out with friends.

Riley says:
"What makes me most excited is to get hands-on experience in financial advising and learn a lot from the team. I’m especially looking forward to seeing firsthand how Avalune positively impacts their clients, while also getting to know everyone and building strong relationships this summer."
