Meet Kaileigh Eddy, Partner and leader of DBC’s South Haven office!

Since joining DBC in 2011, Kaileigh has grown alongside the firm, built long-standing client relationships, and taken on increasing leadership responsibilities. In January 2026, she was promoted to Partner and now works closely with small-business owners and individuals throughout the South Haven community.

In addition to providing tax and accounting services, Kaileigh holds investment licenses and assists clients with financial planning, financial projections, and Roth IRA conversion analysis. She especially enjoys helping clients make sense of complex financial matters, evaluate their options, and feel more confident about the decisions ahead.

Outside of the office, Kaileigh enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark, and their large family. Rather than exchanging traditional gifts for birthdays and Christmas, they often choose to invest in shared experiences. Camping and traveling have become some of her family’s favorite ways to spend time together, explore new places, and create lasting memories.

Kaileigh also enjoys hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and occasionally playing tourist in her own hometown.

Learn more about Kaileigh, her journey with DBC, and the relationships and experiences that have shaped her career in our latest Employee Spotlight:

A profitable year does not always mean an agricultural operation has enough cash available to comfortably cover its short-term needs.

Revenue often comes in at specific points in the production cycle, while expenses such as seed, fertilizer, fuel, labor, land costs, and debt payments continue throughout the year. Inventory, receivables, prepaid expenses, and capital purchases can also tie up cash, even when the operation is performing well on paper.

In our latest blog, we explore why profitability and liquidity do not always move together, where working capital pressure tends to build, and how agricultural operations can better align cash flow with the production cycle.

If cash feels tighter than the financial statements suggest, DBC can help you take a closer look at how working capital is structured and identify practical adjustments that may support greater financial stability.

For many hospitality business owners, the relationship with their accountant begins and ends with tax preparation. But as a business grows, so do the financial decisions that need to be made throughout the year.

Whether you're managing labor costs, evaluating expansion opportunities, investing in equipment, or navigating seasonal fluctuations, timely financial guidance can be just as valuable as accurate tax compliance.

In our latest blog, we explore what hospitality businesses should expect from a modern accounting partner, including proactive tax planning, industry-specific financial insights, technology recommendations, and ongoing advisory support that extends well beyond tax season.

The right accounting relationship should help you do more than report on the past. It should give you the information and perspective to make stronger decisions for the future.

At DBC, we partner with hospitality businesses throughout the year, helping owners understand their financial performance, evaluate opportunities, and make informed decisions as their businesses evolve.

Proposed changes to federal animal welfare legislation could have important implications for livestock producers across the country.

As Congress considers updates to the farm bill, producers may face new questions about regulatory requirements, capital investments, and long-term business planning. Regardless of the outcome, changing regulations and evolving consumer expectations continue to influence how many livestock operations make decisions about future growth.

In our latest blog, we explore the proposed legislation, how it could affect producers, and why reviewing your financial strategy and investment plans is important during periods of regulatory uncertainty.

If you're evaluating how changing regulations may impact your operation, DBC can help you assess the financial implications and develop a plan that supports your long-term goals.

Not-for-profit organizations manage a wide range of records, including financial documents, grant agreements, board minutes, donor acknowledgments, and employee files. Without a consistent document retention policy, important records may be discarded too soon, while outdated or sensitive information may be kept longer than necessary.

A thoughtful policy establishes clear expectations for what should be retained, how long records should be kept, where they should be stored, and how they should be securely destroyed. It can also help support audits, grant reporting, regulatory compliance, and sound governance.

In our latest blog, we outline the records not-for-profit organizations should consider maintaining, common retention periods, and why every policy should include procedures for electronic records and legal holds.

Have questions about developing or updating your organization’s document retention practices? Contact the DBC team to discuss your organization’s needs.

Federal grants can create valuable opportunities for agricultural businesses, but changes to funding programs can also introduce unexpected financial risk.

Recent uncertainty surrounding the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) serves as a reminder that major capital investments should be evaluated with multiple financial scenarios in mind. Projects that rely heavily on grant funding may face challenges if reimbursements are delayed or program requirements change.

In our latest blog, we discuss the recent REAP funding concerns, what they could mean for agricultural producers, and why careful financial planning remains essential when evaluating renewable energy and other capital improvement projects.

If you're considering a significant investment in your operation, DBC can help you evaluate financing options, assess long-term financial impacts, and build a strategy that supports your business through changing conditions.

Repairs and capital improvements may seem similar, but the way they are treated for tax purposes can have a significant impact on deductions, cash flow, and long-term planning.

Whether you're remodeling your own facility or helping clients navigate renovation projects, understanding the difference between the two is essential. The way a project is classified affects when costs can be deducted, how assets are depreciated, and how financial results are reported.

This blog breaks down how the IRS distinguishes repairs from capital improvements, including what factors determine whether an expense can be deducted immediately or must be capitalized. We also discuss safe harbor rules, projects that include both repairs and improvements, and why accurate documentation matters.

Taking the time to classify remodeling costs correctly can help reduce tax risk, improve budgeting, and support more informed decisions throughout the life of a project.

Whether you're investing in your own facilities or advising clients through renovation projects, understanding the tax treatment of those costs matters. DBC can help you evaluate the financial impact, document expenses appropriately, and develop a strategy that supports your business goals.

Strong financial habits are often what separate hospitality businesses that simply react to change from those that are prepared for it.

Regular financial reviews, cash reserve planning, labor cost monitoring, budgeting, and forecasting all play an important role in helping owners navigate seasonal fluctuations, rising costs, and unexpected expenses while keeping the business on solid financial footing.

In this blog, we discuss several financial practices that can help hospitality businesses build resilience, including monitoring key performance indicators, planning for major expenditures, strengthening cash flow, and using financial statements to make more informed business decisions.

We also explore how consistent financial management can help owners improve long-term stability, respond more confidently to changing market conditions, and position their businesses for sustainable growth.

At DBC, we work with hospitality businesses to strengthen financial reporting, improve decision-making, and develop strategies that support long-term success.
