If you didn't do this Dec. 31, do it now (you can always back out any mileage you've added so far in 2023). This is important whether you take actual expenses or the standard mileage rate. Pray these tax proposals continue to get pushback from lawmakers and constituents. Say No to removal of “step up in basis” on inheritance property and No to banks and financial institutions reporting your monetary transactions. Be informed and speak out. Stop this government overreach and invasion of privacy.

The proposal to end the step-up in basis was already facing obstacles before it was left out of draft legislation.
